140622 - Pastor Danny - What it means to be free
Jhn 8:31-36 - You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.
Whoever commits sin is a slave to sin, but the Son makes you free.
That we need to be made free shows that there is a bondage up until that point.
Sin holds us captive.
Psa 51:5 - Born into captivity.
Our human nature causes us to sin. No one has to be taught to sin, we do it by nature.
We were born into a bad way.
As we get older, we get worse instead of better.
Don't say you would never do something, because that's where you will be attacked.
We can't release ourselves - we were trapped and had to be released.
We set out to correct ourselves, but it's not within our power to be free of sin.
Sin was our master, but that was not God's intent for us.
Just like an animal caught in a trap, which can't free itself but has to be released, we also
were in a trap of sin and needed someone to come and release us. We were trapped by sin and were
in need of freedom.
After sin entered the word, anti-God sentiments came with it.
Act 7 - Stephen talking about bondage in Egypt.
The natural circumstances were a shadow of what was happening in the spirit.
Moses didn't take people out of Egypt, God did.
No one can bring you out of sin except God.
God brought people out of Egypt because He wanted to have an intimate relationship with them.
We can't have a personal relationship with God if we are in sin.
Even if God honors the prayers of a sinner, that person needs to understand that they need to
come to Christ.
God doesn't want robotic activity - going through the motions. That's not a relationship. He wants
an intimate, personal relationship.
Jhn 3:14-16 - As Moses lifted up the serpent.
It was not God's intent for us to live trapped in sin like that.
Num 21:5-8 - Snakes bit and killed people, but God told Moses to make a serpent, and if the people
look at it, then they won't die.
This is a shadow of Christ being lifted up against sin. We were bitten
by sin.
People in the world have fun, but they are still trapped, which is why there are people on drugs,
alcoholics, etc.. looking for an escape. They are looking for freedom.
Sin is a cancer - a disease - and it kills. The wages of sin is death.
People aren't brought in by bible-bashing - God brought us in by love: For God so LOVED the world...
Jhn 8:32-36 - You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.
It means being liberated from the power and the hold of sin.
It takes the power of God to free us.
God will continue to pull you out of sin as you go. It's a continual process. It's not a one-time event
- we are constantly being made free.
When the heart says, 'yes' the work begins.
People will see differences in you. They knew who you were before, but you will be a different person,
and your life will be a testimony to that.
The truth will make you free - Jesus is the way, the truth and the life, the Word of God is the truth.
It was Jesus who broke the chains - we no longer need to make resolutions.
Jhn 1:12 - He gave the right to be called children of God.
We act on that. No everyone will like that, but we aren't that old person any more.
You're not a Christian because of your parents.
Rom 6:9-12,18-22 - Jesus became the sacrifice for sin, and had to die once, but death has no dominion
over Jesus any more.
We have to die to sin. That's not a one-time thing.
Do not let sin reign in your mortal body that you should obey it.
We have the power to defeat it, but we still have to decide to defeat it. It's not easy, but we have the
power to defeat it. Don't make excuses and rationalize it.
Sin will keep trying to creep up.
As Christ died, we died to sin.
Sin operates in your flesh, but does not operate in your spirit.
The Spirit of God operates through your spirit.
Freed from sin, we are now slaves to Christ, slaves to righteousness. We now desire the good things of God.
We no longer want to sin.
People couldn't keep the law, not because the law was wrong, but because there was something wrong with
people - sinful nature.
Because we're free now, God can use us at will. He now has control.
God can use us because we're free.
Jhn 3; 9 - Some people prefer darkness. Some people accept bondage.
Some people don't even realize they are in bondage.

140713 - Grace Hampton - Where do your values lie?
We value family, friendships, education, children/grandchildren, church,
a home, America, freedom, etc..
Values: our standards of behavior; what is important in life.
5 Principles for Christian growth
Values line up with these
- Study the word
- Prayer
- Fellowship
- Witness
- Obey God
1) Study the Word
We read about people that we want to get to know.
When we get ready to talk about the Word, you have to know what you're talking about.
2Ti 2:15 - Be diligent to present yourself approved
2) Prayer
Getting to know someone by talking with them.
If you don't find time to talk to God, then He may end up pulling you away from some of the
things you are busy with so that He can have His time with you.
God talks to you when you talk to Him.
Heb 4:15-16 - For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but
was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.
Tell God how you are feeling; tell him when things aren't going right.
3) Fellowship
1Jo 1:7 - Fellowship with one another.
Spending time together.
Also taking care of each other, watching out for each other,
loving each other and being there for each other.
Fellowship takes place for the rest of your lives.
4) Witness
Act 1:8 - You shall be witnesses to Me.. to the ends of the earth.
We all came to Christ through witnessing.
How you handle yourself is a witness.
When someone confronts you, the only way to stay in the right is to not go into the wrong with them.
Stay in the right and you will be able to say that you didn't do anything wrong.
5) Obey God
by fellowship, studying the word, being a witness, etc.
God created us. Obey the creator.
He loves us as His children.
He sent His son to suffer for us.
Help others get to a place of obedience. People need help in this area.
God has abundances here on Earth, and He can bring them to us if we are obedient to Him.
Mat 6:19-21 - Do not lay up treasures on Earth,... lay up treasures in Heaven...
Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

140727 - Lillian Harrison - Let the People See; Let the People Believe
2Ki 6:8-17NIV - Open his eyes, LORD, so that he may see.
Then the LORD opened the servant's eyes,
and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.
This is Holy Spirit sight
.
Those who can't see often have to trust the leadership of others.
When we are 'blind', we can trust the leadership of the Holy Spirit.
To see means to perceive with the eyes and discern visually.
There are 2 kinds of sight - sight with the eyes, and sight through belief.
Not being able to physically see causes a person's other senses to be heightened.
Those who are blind tend to have an increased confidence in decision-making.
If God says He is here to protect us, He is here to protect us.
Elisha prayed for a blind man to see, and he saw
God's army protecting them.
Don't look at what you see, but ask God to show you what you cannot see.
Exo 14:19-24 - The the Angel of God withdrew and went behind them.
Strategy from the Holy Spirit - the Israelites couldn't see, so they had to rely on The Lord for direction.
When Peter walked on water, he took his eyes off of Jesus. He wasn't seeing Jesus,
he was seeing the wind and the waves.
When Jehoshaphat went before The Lord, he said, Our eyes are upon you.
When we put our eyes on the Lord, we have to trust. He knows everything that's going to happen to us.
1Ki 17:9-16 - The woman with very little flour and oil was able to feed Elijah, herself and her son.
Seeing the situation in the natural, she didn't think that she had enough, but seeing the situation
by the Spirit, Elijah knew that she had abundance.
God sees in a completely different way from us.
We have to become blind
to our way of thinking so that God can perfect the other senses –
the senses of the Holy Spirit.
When we want to take control of a situation away from God, that's us seeing with our own natural sight.
We rely on the Holy Spirit to open our spiritual eyes and teach us new things.
He lets us see things in a way that we could not see before.
God takes care of us as a father takes care of his children.
He can say, Come to Me
because He takes care of us.
The Holy Spirit wants the chance to prove to us that He will guide us through a situation.
Eph 1:17-19 The whole promise of life for us is laid out in Ephesians 1.
The sight of the blind doesn't work, so they use other senses. Human (natural) sight does not
work when serving God, so let us use our spiritual sight through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
This strengthens our faith and trust in Him.

140803 - Rev. Larry Brown - Living By The Spirit
We all want to be perfect for God, but we can't be perfect by the flesh.
None of us is truly good.
God is trying to get us to rest in Him instead of working so hard to be good by the flesh.
We can't even do simple things like losing weight or eating right on our own.
God wants us to enter into His rest. He wants us to listen to The Spirit.
Rom 8:1-9 - We walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit.
We are righteous because of the way we believe, not because we are good.
James 4:1 - War between the flesh and the Spirit inside each of us.
We need the spirit of Christ every day. We have to kill the flesh every day.
Our flesh nature is evil.
We can do all the good works we want, but if the Spirit of Christ withdrew
Himself from you today, you would be nothing, just like you were when you
found Him.
The way God sees us is like the trash that gets put out but someone said,
Wait, I can use this.
God doesn't see any of us as His special child because we are good - we are
special to Him because He loves us. Nothing can separate us from the love of
God which is in Christ Jesus.
You can't stop God from loving you - evil is in us, but God loves everyone, even
the sinner on their way to Hell; God will love them all the way into Hell,
trying to stop them and turn them around. Why would you die when I've provided
a way for you?
Why would you give up on yourself? Why are you so hard on
yourself? Why are you condemning yourself? Yes, we are flawed, but we have Jesus
in our lives.
Rom 7:15 - I do the things I don't want to do, and I don't do the things I want
to do.
The flesh can't please God.
[The saying on the screen this morning was, God strengthens you by weakening you
first. Most of us want the glory before the story.
]
God is waiting for us to be weak so he can work with us.
He waits for us to throw up our hands in frustration and say, I can't do it!
Then He can work with us.
Gal 5:16 - Walk in the Spirit, and you won't fulfill the lusts of the flesh.
The Bible says walk in the Spirit, not stand still in the Spirit.
Walking in the Spirit is a continuous thing. We will constantly be failing,
but we keep going and fail our way to the top.
You hear God's voice, but you're always moving.
You can't become perfect at walking in the Spirit. You get better at it, but
you will always be contending with the flesh.
When we mess up, we have an advocate with The Father - we have a lawyer with
God. We can go to Him, and He will go to The Father.
We keep trying to do in the flesh what God began in the Spirit.
Gal 5:19-26 - The works of the flesh and the fruit of the Spirit.
Every time you try to do something in the flesh, it's not going to work.
Every time you try to let the Spirit of Christ do it in you, it's going to work.
You won't overcome the things that you're struggling with if keep struggling in
the flesh. You've got to go to God with it.
We don't go to the hospital because we're well, and we did not come to God
because we knew how to live this life.
Many of us harbor unforgiveness, sometimes even toward people who have passed
away a long time ago.
Acknowledge the Spirit of God. Be honest, forget your pride, humble yourself
before God, and tell Him, I can't do it. I don't know what I'm doing, and I'm
a failure.
because God is waiting for you to be weak.
When you get to that place, when you're weak enough to trust Him, He will lift you up.

142114 - Rev. Larry Brown - Being an authentic Christian
People say that there are hypocrites in the church, but there are hypocrites
at work, too, and people don't stay home from work.
Mat 23:27-36 NKJV - Woe to you scribes and pharasees, hypocrites
Jesus couldn't do many miracles in His home town
because people didn't believe.
You can stop God's power by unbelief.
Mat 22:2-14
The Kingdom of Heaven is like a feast that has been prepared, but a lot of
people are too busy to show up. So other people were invited on the spot.
God is inviting us to spend eternity with Him,
but people aren't coming to the party.
15-22, 23-33
The sadducees rejected the law as given to Moses - they
only believed in the original Torah. They also didn't believe in the afterlife.
So when they asked, Whose wife would she be in the resurrection?
they
themselves didn't believe that there even was an afterlife - they were just
trying to logically trip Him up. Jesus showed them that they had asked a
nonsensical question.
22:34-39 - The scribes asked, What is the greatest commandment.
They wanted Jesus to pick one out and then say He was wrong to pick one out.
So He said the 2 great commandments (that the 10 commandments are broken down
to) - Love the Lord your God (first 4 commandments), and Love your neighbor
as yourself (last 6 commandments). If you have love, you have the whole package.
It's love that God responds to.
People will watch you. They will see if you trip up or if you are authentic.
40-46 - The scribes said Jesus wasn't Messiah, that He was just David's son.
They minimized Him. But David himself referred to Mesaiah as Lord.
Do what the Pharasees say, but not what they do. They know the law,
but they don't keep it. Vain repetition - it's all show.
Righteousness is not an appearance - it is a lifestyle.
We fail at it miserably, but we keep going.
Don't worship people here on earth - your father is in Heaven.
For God to let us do anything for Him is a priviledge.
2Ti 3:1-7 - People will love pleasure of life instead of God.
People will come to church without growing at all.
They don't have the real power of God in their lives.
You can't ever fake God out - He knows your heart.
Psa 139
We will reap the benefit if we get to know God personally.

We are going somewhere
Rev 21:1-5
We prepare for a journey, make sure we have everything we need,
and then set out.
Pack belongings, check that we're bringing along enough money,
put gas in the car, etc.
At the destination, we unpack our bag.
Jhn 3:16
We need the Son to
unpack our bags
.
Jhn 10:10 - I come that they may have life, and have it more abundantly.
Jesus gives us abundant life.
Psa 103:1-5 - Bless the Lord, O my soul and all that is within me.
The benefits of The Lord help us to
unpack our baggage
by
- Forgiving our iniquities
- Healing us of all of our diseases
- Redeeming our life from destruction
- Crowning us with loving kindness
The spirit of the Lord God in on me
In our journey, the only thing we need to 'pack' is Jesus Christ.
We need to secure ourselves by surrendering to Jesus.
2Pe 1:3-10 HCSB
Things we need to
pack
: Faith, Goodness, Knowledge,
Self-control, Perseverance, Godliness, Brotherly kindness and love.
Love takes care of everything. Pack agape love and you've got it made.
These virtues will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive
in your knowledge of Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ has what we need to get from 'here' to 'there'.
Virgin Galactic is charging millions to take people up to the
heavens, but only Jesus can truly get us to Heaven.
Jesus is coming to take us on the most exciting trip
'Checking in' when we get to our destination.
Jer 17:10 NIV
Psa 51
We tend to focus on the big things that we do wrong or not.
But the little things that we don't pay much attention to will
distract us from our journey.
We're going to look forward to our destination.

141207 - David Brown - Our Response to God
Isa 6:1-7
Isaiah spoke into the Millennial and Messianic age more than the other prophets.
Isaiah's ministry spanned about 64 years.
God allowed Isaiah to see Him on His throne in a vision.
He revealed Himself. He doesn't have to do that. We can't deserve that.
Heb 1:1 KJV
We need to see that God is still in power.
We care about what people are in positions of power, but we always have to
remember that God is ultimately in control.
Sometimes we need to step away from the things of this world and see
God in His glory.
When God revealed Himself to Isaiah,
- Isaiah saw the authority of God.
We need to see that God is still in power, despite everything we see
going on in the world.
- He saw the Glory of God. His train filled the temple.
We need to see the glory of God. It is seeing God as He is.
We look too much at the world and the way things are instead of
focusing on God's glory. Sometimes we just need to get away from the
world and see the glory of God.
- Seraphim were there, crying, 'Holy, holy, holy!' which was a worship.
We need to tell God He is holy. One way that God's glory is seen is
through us.
When we glorify God, we need to tell Him He is holy.
We don't need for God to reveal Himself the same way He did to Isaiah - it
will be different now because now we have Jesus, and the Father shows
Himself through Jesus.
God never just reveals Himself for nothing - there is always a reason that
God shows Himself. He's not just a Band-Aid - there's a good reason for
Him to show up.
We enjoy being in the presence of God, but we have to remember that He is
there for a reason.
Exo 3:1-4 - The Angel of the Lord appeared to Moses in a burning bush.
Moses 'turned aside' and gave it his attention, because he thought that
it might be God in action.
God was there to use Moses. God was showing up for a reason.
He had a purpose for being there.
We should always look for the reason He is there.
When god reveals Himself to you, what is your response?
Our revelation shouldn't be shallow.
Isaiah's response was humility.
Whenever you see the glory of God, do what Isaiah did - self-evaluation,
comparing himself to the perfection of God.
Woe to me...
Isaiah said.
When God moves, He wants us to do a self-evaluation to see where we are at.
The Word of God is always for a self-evaluation.
Are you hanging around with people who are not right?
Without God, we are just dead - it's pointless. What does our
resume
look like without God? Getting a Master's is good, but having the Master's
and Jesus is far better.
Isaiah responded to God, and so God responded to Isaiah.
Our relationship is never
fair
because we can never repay what He
has done for us. God will always give more than He asks for.
Sometimes it seems like God isn't responding to us. Sometimes the
self-evaluation is more important than asking for things.
Isaiah responded to God, and God responded to him.
Sometimes God responds not to what we ask, but rather He responds to us
the way that we respond to Him.
What we should be asking for is for us to be fixed.
Repentance makes you usable. Isaiah asked to be fixed first,
and it was after that that God was able to use Him.
Are you comfortable when God reveals to you the way you really are?
Being in the presence of God and feeling unclean is like having visitors
come over when the house is messy.

141228 - Carolyn Waters - Patience and Peace in the Preparation
Patience and peace go together.
We are part of the body of Christ, but we all have a specific
purpose in our lives.
As young Christians, hearing from God made us excited.
Gen 37 - Joseph
Joseph was the youngest of 12 brothers, and had a dream of
being ruler, but he went into slavery at first instead.
He must not have thought while being in slavery that this was
not the road to being a ruler, but the dream did come true.
God had a purpose for Job's life, too. Job was very patient.
Jesus came to the Earth to die. The Word made flesh. But He had
to suffer first before He could be Savior.
We are so used to instant gratification, but very often it takes
time for God's promises to be fulfilled.
Jas 1:2-4 - Count it all joy
If you have to bake something for 40 minutes, you can't get it
done in 5 minutes. Some things take time, and we need to have patience.
If Joseph or Jesus hadn't gone through what they needed to go
through, then they wouldn't not have fulfilled the promises that
the Father had for them.
It was all part of the preparation process.
Jesus prepared for 30 years to minister for 3 years.
We can't have patience without peace.
Jhn 14:27
Peace and patience are fruit of the spirit, and come from God.
You can have peace in the midst of the turmoil.
God wants to give us a peace. The world's peace goes up and down
like the tide, but God's peace is consistent.
We can't take hold of God's peace because we're holding onto
the world's calamity.
We're living in a world of calamity and chaos. We will need to
hold onto God's consistent peace.
God want to replace our chaos with peace.
Peter walked on the water because he was focused on Jesus and
trusting in Him. But when he looked around at the situation,
he panicked and began to sink.
We need patience to endure.
There will be things that will cause us to doubt God and our
trust will waver.
God wants to give us the peace that surpasses all
understanding.
Even when people fail us, God will still prevail.

150104 - Richie Bullock, Jr. - Trusting God
Psa 91
Life is uncertain. We don't know what's coming next. good and bad
things happen.
Sometimes, it's just as well that we can't see the future, since that
could be depressing at times.
But God is in control.
If we are children of God and we have a close relationship with Him,
then we have the comfort of knowing that He's in control.
So we can enjoy life, even when times are tough.
It gives us peace, happiness, joy..
Pro 3:5-6 - Lean not on your own understanding, but trust the Lord,
and He will direct your path.
Do we truly trust God? Can we honestly say that we trust God
with our lives?
If we don't have that trust, that faith, then there is a disconnect
in our relationship with God.
What is trust? It's a feeling a safety and comfort in a relationship
to another.
Trust is earned, it is not given. It develops over time.
To dwell in the secret place of the Most High is an intimate
relationship.
This is about our commitment to be obedient to God and to have a daily
walk with Him. It's a daily relationship - a daily fellowship, not not
calling on God when we have a problem.
We belong to God, and He wants us to be close just as a parent wants
their child to be close.
It is God who protects us from the enemy. He will cover us, as a bird
spreads it's wings over its offspring.
Satan has no access when we put our confidence in our protector.
We get to know Him more by getting into the Word. the more we get to
know Him, the tighter the relationship, and so the more we can put
our trust in Him.
Do you know Me? Do you trust Me?
Who do you trust more? The world,
or our Creator? Have we truly committed and surrendered our lives to Him?
We do need God's protection. The provisions of the world come and go;
don't put your trust in anything worldly, but in God.
Even when things are bad by the world's standards, God supplies our
needs. We are children of God.
When the doctors give up, you have to know that you belong to God.
Psa 40:4 - Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust.
Psa 71:5 - Thou art my trust, oh, Lord, Thou art my trust from
my youth.
Psa 118:8 - It is better to trust in The Lord than to put your
confidence in man.
God is our Creator. He knows all about us and He has a plan for us
where you will be blessed and He will be glorified.
It's natural to get frightened, but we have to trust.
Peter walking on the water - Peter saw the wind and the waves,
and the fear flustered him, so his trust wavered.
Moses being led by God to the Red Sea - by the world, it looked like
a suicide position, between the soldiers and the sea, but he trusted
God, and God was able to lead them to safety because they trusted
in God.
Worship and love Him, and your reward will be great.
God's reward is greater than anything we could ever earn.
If you sow into the Kingdom, then you will reap a deeper
Spiritual life.

The period in Kings wasn't a good time for the people in Israel.
King Ahab did more evil than any of the kings before him, but then
Elijah came and predicted drought. He went into the wilderness.
The brook dried up and then he went to visit a widow.
1Ki 17:8-12 - Arise, get thee to Zarephath.
The widow was there gathering sticks. Elijah asked for food and water,
but there was almost no more food left.
When he asked for water, it was no problem, but when he asked for
food, she had almost nothing.
The widow was prepared to meet her demise, starving to death.
Have any of us ever gone forward, assuming we are about to fail?
Sometimes God tells us to do something and it's fine. Then he asks
us to do more, and we think it's too much. God starts to stretch us.
God is going to stretch us – to nudge us to do more than we think we can.
When we think we're going to fail, we give up and don't try, but God
is going to ask us to do more than we think we can,
and He will make us able.
He wants more than just the water, now He wants the bread.
If we don't push ourselves, then we won't grow.
If we learn what we already know then what are we gaining?
The more nothing
I am, the more God's glory is shown.
If you feel like you don't have enough to do what God is asking of you,
then do it anyway. Have faith and just be obedient.
If we only hide behind what we're comfortable with then
we won't be exposed, but we can't do that.
We will never see God move if we stay in our comfort zone.
By doing God's will and giving to Elijah,
the widow's needs were met as well.
If you're in God's will, God will abundantly bless you and you will
not go empty. Not just food, not just money, not just time,
but spiritually.
If God gave to you, then it is up to you to share and give,
just as the widow gave to Elijah.
God blessed the widow because she was obedient in blessing someone else.
What we have, give it to God. He's stretching us.
If we stay in our comfort zone, we will never see God move.
Peter would have never walked on water if he hadn't had the faith to get
out of the boat. And he would never have been a disciple if he hadn't
had the faith to walk away from his life as a fisherman.
But he dropped everything and followed Jesus,
and 12 men turned the world upside down.

150315 - Sharon Ralph - Satan is an Outsider
Rom 8:9 NIV - You are not living the life of the flesh,
you are living the life of the spirit, if The Spirit of God
dwells within you.
Joe 2:28 KJV - I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh
1Co 6:19 - Or do you not know that your body is the temple
of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God,
and you are not your own?
The Holy Spirit lives within us.
The Holy Spirit goes between us and the Spiritual world.
He is the go-between
between this world, and the
Kingdom of God.
Since He lives within us, we don't need to speak aloud for
him to hear us.
Jesus took our sicknesses to the cross, but without the Holy
Spirit within us, we wouldn't be able to draw on the healing
power of Jesus to be healed.
The Holy Spirit is our connection to The Father, and without
Jesus' sacrifice, we wouldn't be able to receive The holy
Spirit.
Although The holy Spirit knows what we are thinking, we
sometimes pray aloud so that Satan and the likes of him will
hear us, and sometime so that we ourselves will hear it and
be encouraged.
Satan does not dwell within us, but he does hear our words
and see our actions.
If we talk pessimistically, it gives Satan ammunition to psyche
us out. It tells him what our fears are. It tells him how he
can worry us.
But if we speak positively, even in bad times, affirming that
God is our source and our provider, that upsets Satan.
Satan can't read things out of your mind, but he can interject
things into your mind.
Satan will try to scare you, cause you to lose faith, and
make you doubt that God is willing to take care of you.
Satan can give us negative thoughts that make us feel like we
can't succeed, but we can use God's Word to fight back.
There is a lot of power in using scripture to rebuke Satan.
Deu 28:8 - The LORD will command the blessing on you in your
storehouses and in all to which you set your hand, and He will
bless you in the land which the LORD your God is giving you.
The Lord brings prosperity.
Deu 28:11 RSV - And the LORD will make you abound in prosperity,
in the fruit of your body, and in the fruit of your cattle,
and in the fruit of your ground, within the land which the
LORD swore to your fathers to give you.
Use these words of God to use His truth against Satan's lies.
Satan knows that God's Word is powerful, but we need to know
God's Word so we can speak it and use it.
Isa 55:11 - So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void
God's Word never returns void. Whatever you pray, it will come
back to bless you.
You can never out-give God.
A word spoken in faith, from the mouth of a believer, can change
circumstances.
Satan hears our words, when we gossip, talk ill of others,
how sick, angry, insecure we are, etc..
He also hears us when we praise God, when we witness, and speak
in faith, too.
Satan sees us when we're selfish, and can tell when we're
depressed. But he also sees us when we surrender to God and
worship.
He knows when we're hopeful and secure. He knows when we surrender
all things to God.
Jesus has given us the authority to cast out demons, but we must
speak it with authority. And we must do this in the name of
Jesus.
Fear and Doubt are evil spirits, and we can cast them out.
We fight back by saying that we serve The Lord.
We don't think or wish these evils away, we cast them away
in Jesus' name.
We can speak God's word to our mountains, also, whatever our
mountains
might be - debt, sickness
We have to have faith that if we pray for something that is in
God's will, the mountain will be moved.
Mat 17:20 - ...if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will
say to this mountain, Move from here to there,
and it
will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.
There is nothing that is made by man or conceived of man than
can be used to fight spiritual warfare, so we must use the
armor of God.
Eph 6:17 - The full armor of God
Luk 4:1-13 - 40 days in the wilderness. Command this stone to
become bread. Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every
word of God.
We will always serve only The Lord.
Jesus using the Word of The Father to resist the devil.
Jhn 14:26 - The holy Spirit will bring to our remembrance the
things which Jesus has spoken.
When Jesus was tempted by the devil, he was filled with The
Holy Spirit, and so always recalled the right scripture at the
right time.
If we study The Word, and act in the Holy Spirit, then we also
will recall the right scripture at the right time.
Pro 18:21 - Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
And those who love it will eat its fruit.
We can be blessed by speaking the Word, but we can by cursed
by saying negative things, and so we must be careful about what
we let the devil hear coming from us.
Don't be overly worried about things, or the devil will use the
negativity.
Captive Godly - is a thought negative? If so, say the word,
captive
. Then think of a vision or thought that you use
to fight this. If you wait too long to push it away, then it
will take root.
If a the thought is Godly, then let it root.
Mat 12:34 - For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth
speaks.
Phl 4:8 - Whatever is good, pure, etc.. if there is anything
worthy of praise... think good thoughts.
Thoughts beget actions, so good thought beget good actions.
And negative thoughts beget negative actions.
If we make our negative thoughts captive to Jesus, then we
can beat Satan.
In conclusion: Satan can only put thoughts in our heads.
If we stop those thoughts before they take root, and use God's
Word, then we can beat Satan through the power of the Holy
Spirit within us.

150412 - Grace Hampton - Good Friday, Easter, and then what?
Mat 27:45-50; 28:1-7
The after-effects of Good Friday and Easter are as important
as the events themselves.
After the celebration of the holiday, we can get back into a
routine if we're not careful. We should not let ourselves fall
into routine, but remember what Christ did for us.
After all is said and done, we need to stay in the
He-is-risen attitude.
During 40 days following the resurrection, Jesus encouraged
the disciples. they became fearless instead of fearful,
as they were when He went to the cross.
Jesus told the disciples to stay around the area.
There was a time for Jesus to be on Earth, and there's a time
for the Holy Spirit to be here.
The disciples were constantly in prayer.
That kind of constant prayer is the key. You need to really
have a relationship with God, and that takes prayer.
The power of the Holy Spirit stayed with them in their hearts,
and they were never again the same.
We have that same Holy Spirit today.
The same Holy Spirit that came to the upper room is with us
now, guiding us.
Think about, even in the last month, how many time the
Holy Spirit has led you.
We need to keep ourselves available to be used by God.
The Holy Spirit will put you in the right place in the right time.
God sends us if He knows we will go.
When was the last time we had a chance to witness?
By our lives, or by our words?
Because of the crucifixion, resurrection and ascension,
our role today is to go out to the corrupt world,
witness and show forth the power that the
Holy Spirit has endowed us with.
Don't let the world intimidate you.
We do what we need to do as part of life in the world,
obeying state and Federal laws, but the power of God has a
much greater hold on us than any government.

150426 - Larry Brown - Life in The Word
Being consistent in the Word is important.
The enemy is trying to distract us from The Word.
The enemy understands that The Word is powerful, and it's in his
best interest to keep us distracted from it.
If we have the Word in us, we are more powerful than he is.
Why would we listen to the one who got kicked out of the place
we want to get into?
When Satan tempted Jesus, Jesus used scripture to defeat Satan.
As soon as Peter was distracted from Jesus, he sank.
Jhn 1:1-5
The same God that was powerful enough to speak the world into
existence is able to speak into your life and change you.
God spoke things into existence, so how can he not be able to
speak into our lives?
You are not your past, you are what God says about you.
Heb 4:12 - For the Word of God is living and powerful.
The Word won't speak to our flesh - it will speak to our spirits.
The flesh is alive because the spirit is alive.
The flesh won't want to do the things of the spirit, because it's
the flesh. But the spirit receives it and the flesh has to go
along.
A glove has no life, but with a hand in it, it moves with life.
The flesh has no spiritual life, but with the spirit within us is
the life that makes the flesh come along.
What's in you is what comes out of you, so if you are in the flesh,
you are no different than the unsaved.
Rom 12:1 - Be not conformed to the ways of this world, but be
transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Isa 55:1-2 - Everyone who thirsts, there is no price.
Stop spending your time and money on things that don't satisfy.
Isa 55:6-7
How many things have we spent money on? Seek The Lord!
We can be strong at times, but if we're not in The Word, then
we're not going to stay strong.
Just as we need food to sustain us every day, we need The Word
to sustain us spiritually every day.
There is our plans, then there is God's plans
Isa 55:8 - My thoughts are not your thoughts, and My ways are not
your ways.
The Word and prayer is the bridge between your thoughts and God's
thoughts.
You can't be in control and have God be in control at the same
time - you have to relinquish control to God.
We have to love even those who are unlovable.
Isa 55:10 - As the rain comes down and the snow from Heaven,
and do not return but water the Earth and make it bring forth and
bud, that's what My Word does for you.
When God's Word says something, it's going to be true whether
anyone likes it or not.
Even the crazy amount of snow we got this winter melted and watered
the Earth and the plants flourished.
The Spirit will bring back to your remembrance the things which
you have learned, but if you haven't learned anything, then the
spirit has nothing to bring back to you.
1 Read the Word
2 Believe the Word
Heb 4:2 - for indeed the Gospel was preached to us as well as to
them. But the Word which they heard did not profit them.
Why did it not profit them? Because it was not mixed with faith
by those who heard it.
If you don't believe what you read in the Bible, then you annul it.
If you don't have the faith to accept it, then it will have no
power at all.
3 Practice The word
Rom 4:19-22 - Abraham did not waver or stagger in faith.
He was strengthened in faith. He stopped looking at the fleshed,
and looked in faith.
Don't let your faith waiver that God is able - if He promised it,
you know it will come to pass.
God will let you get right to the end, when you are broken enough
that He can finally do something for you.
1Ti 3:16 - All scripture is given by God.
We aren't supposed to be afraid of the things of this world.
Mat 24:12, 22 - He who endures to the end will be saved.

Preparing for the worst, while asking for the best
Gen 32:3-12
We should be prepared for the worst.
Don't be ambushed - prepare!
God told Jacob, Return to your family.
Jacob was preparing to be injured or to die, so he
separated out his family to keep them safe.
You don't always have control of live, and we take it in steps as
it unfolds. God does not always tell us what to expect.
God told Jacob to return, but Jacob had no idea why or what was
going on. God said, Go.
That was all Jacob had to go by.
Jacob answered God. Oh, God of my father...
We should keep communication with God.
Jacob was saying that God was more (stronger) than the situation
he was going through.
Jacob didn't just talk to God about his current situation, but
recalled that this is the same God that gave a promise long ago.
Our salvation is a promise that existed long before we did.
We can never deserve God. We can please Him all we can,
but will always need mercy and grace.
Salvation, Jesus, was a gift. We don't deserve it.
We remind
God of His promise, not because He forgets,
but because we can stand on those promises.
The best thing that we can ask God for is deliverance.
Grace, mercy, etc., are all connected with deliverance.
Jacob asked for deliverance because that was God's best.
Jacob was preparing his family for the worst, and while that
was going on, he was asking God for the best.
Whatever it is that you're facing, it doesn't have to take all your
strength; you will have fight in you that you didn't know was
there until you start swinging spiritually.
Jacob wrestled with the angel until God blessed him.

150614 - Sharon - Learn by the Old, Live by the New
Old and New Testaments, before and after Jesus came.
We also have our own new and old testaments
Faith is not knowing that God can, it's believing that He will.
Rom 4:19-21 - Abraham - No unbelief or distrust made him waver
concerning the promise of God.
We have to have faith in God's ability and in His willingness.
Old Testament - we go to God when all else fails.
New Testament - We go to God first, and He sends us to others (or
sends others to us)
OT: We do all the asking, but no listening.
We didn't know how God worked. How can we believe what
we don't know?
NT: God gives us words to pray, that give us faith and hope.
God gives us His words to pray, and that is where the power is.
The power to produce results and change circumstances.
Isa 50:4 - The Lord GOD has given Me The tongue of the learned,
that I should know how to speak a word in season to him who is
weary.
We should know how to pray for someone, in a way that is
specific to their needs, with the words God has given or will
give to us.
OT: We know who Jesus was but didn't know him personally.
We knew Him from history.
NT: Jesus is very much alive. We have a personal relationship
with Jesus.
Once we invite Jesus into our life, our life changes - once we
allow Jesus to reign over our life, we become new.
2Co 5:17 - New creation - the old has passed away.
We receive the opportunity for a second chance - a new life.
We have the chance for a do-over. Some people change faster
than others.
The more time we study and spend time seeking Him, the more
that is revealed to us, and the more we understand.
MT 7:7-8 - Ask, and it will be given
to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened
to you.
The larger God gets in our lives, the smaller the world gets,
and the less significant our circumstances become, and the more
significant our blessings become.
OT: Blessings were attributed to luck.
NT: We see the blessings of God.
We see blessing in the things we used to take for granted:
We now see that the dirty dishes in the sink mean that we ate
well that day.
We now see that our snoring spouse means we have them
as a blessing.
We now see going grocery shopping as a blessing, because we have
all that we need. And god will always provide.
Phl 4:19 - My God shall supply all your need according to His
riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
OT: Taught that pretty much everyone went to Heaven,
even if it needed to be earned.
Mat 7:21 - Not everyone who says to
Me 'Lord, Lord' will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. but he who does
the will of My Father who is in Heaven.
Mat 18:2-3 - unless you are converted
and become as little children, you will by no means enter the
kingdom of heaven.
OT: Some sins are worse than others. Some sins seem small enough
that they can be ignored and not be concerned about.
NT: God demands perfection, and that's attained through Jesus.
Heb 9:22 AMP - [In fact], under the Law almost everything is
purified by means of blood, and without the shedding of blood
there is neither release from sin and its guilt nor
the remission of the due and merited punishment for sins.
Col 1:14 - We have redemption in Jesus' blood;
the forgiveness of our sins.
Mat 26:28 - For this is My blood of
the New Covenant, which is being poured out for many for the
forgiveness of sin.
Psa 86:5 - For You, oh Lord, are good, and ready to forgive.
Act 10:43 - Everyone who believes receives forgiveness of sin
through His name.
Through Christ's willingness to die on the cross, His shed blood
entitled us to forgiveness of sin. It was the ultimate sacrifice
of His sinless life for the forgiveness of our sins.
Repentance is also necessary for forgiveness.
Repentance - to change your mind and your heart to turn away from
sin. to act in God's will, not your own.
Mar 1:4 - John [the baptist] came baptizing in the wilderness and
preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.
Act 8:22 - Repent of the wickedness.
Act 5:31 - God exalted Jesus to His right hand
Act 2:38 - repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus
Forgiveness of sin comes through Jesus. Through His blood,
through His mercy, through His name, and through salvation.
Jhn 14:6 - I am the way, the truth,
and the life. No one comes to the Father except through
Me.
Relationship with God comes only through His son Jesus Christ.
God is forgiving, but He is also just. There are conditions to
forgiveness. Simply asking is not all there is to it.
1Jn 5:17 - All unrighteousness is sin.
Sin separates us from God.
Mat 12:32 - Unforgivable sin: speaking against the Spirit.
Blaspheme of the Holy Spirit.
The truths of the Bible can be revealed in different ways to
different people. Scripture, although always true, won't have the
same meaning every time it is read, by the same person or by
different people.
Different interpretations will lead in different directions, but
will never contradict.
OT: God communicated with certain prophets.
NT: We all have the ability to communicate with God
Eph 3:11-12 AMP - Because of Christ, and our faith in Him,
we can now come boldly and confidently into God's presence.
We have been given the capacity to hear from God and obey.
Psa 40:6 AMP - Sacrifice and offering You do not desire,
nor have You delight in them; You have given me the capacity
to hear and obey [Your law, a more valuable service than]
burnt offerings and sin offerings [which] You do not require.
We can also seek His council and His help.
Psa 34:17 AMP - When the righteous cry for help, the Lord
hears, and delivers them out of all their distress and
troubles.
Psa 50:15 AMP - And call on Me in the day of trouble; I will
deliver you, and you shall honor and glorify Me.
Praying for and receiving protection:
Psa 91:1-2 AMP - He who dwells in the secret place of the Most
High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the
Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand]. I will say of the Lord,
He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God; on Him I lean and
rely, and in Him I [confidently] trust!
Psa 91:9-10 AMP - Because you have made the Lord your refuge, and
the Most High your dwelling place, there shall no evil befall you,
nor any plague or calamity come near your tent.
We have received His healing:
1Pe 2:24 KJV - Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the
tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness:
by whose stripes ye were healed.
By His stripes you are healed. Believe it and receive it.
Every thing we have, salvation, forgiveness, blessings, favor and love
Eph 2:8 AMP - For it is by free grace (God's unmerited favor) that
you are saved through faith. And this is not of yourselves, but it
is the gift of God;
None of us deserves salvation
Jesus made shows and lights the way.
We must be obedient to His way.
God's way is the perfect way.
OT: The way of the world
NT: The way of the Kingdom
Rom 12:2 - Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed
by the renewing of your mind.
Receiving Jesus gives us salvation, but also a transformation of
our lives.
God's changes in our lives occur through a synergy of our flesh
and the holy Spirit. We submit to the Holy Spirit to allow him to
work within us.
We are not of the world, but we are still in the world.
We still go through troubles, but that just bring us closer
to God.
If God changed us all at once, we wouldn't learn - we wouldn't
appreciate.
God reveals things to us through the Holy Spirit. We see how our
actions and words effect others.
Before stepping forward in the flesh, step back in the Spirit. i.e.
Before you do something, stop a moment and see what the
Spirit says.
Don't be afraid of change.
We are changed by reading the Word, and from Pastors and elders.
Each new understanding we receive brings us closer to true peace.
We become more Christ-like every day.

150621 - Larry Brown - God Gives Us Rest
Heb 4:1-7 NIV - God had rest since the beginning,
but we will find rest if we are obedient to God.
God promises us that He's going to give us rest.
Sometimes we feel like we need rest from the bad things
in the world - the bad things in the news.
Psa 95:7-11 NIV - Those who go astray will not
find God's rest.
Gen 2:2 - And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had
done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work
which He had done.
We can't let our hearts get hardened by the things we
see in the world.
Terrorists want to die violently and publicly,
so we are all subject to hearing and seeing this.
We also see corruption in government.
These things leave us weary.
God doesn't will the evil that happens in this world,
but He does will the good that comes out of that evil.
Don't let yourself get hard or you will miss the
rest God has for you.
Num 14-17 - The people were led to the promised land,
but they were afraid because of the giants,
so they went back into the promised land for 40 years.
We should look for God's work, even when things look bad.
Sometimes we have a short memory with God's work - He
blesses us, but then we soon disregard that.
What have you done for me lately?
If we don't want to see what God is doing,
then you will be blind to what God is doing.
But if you acknowledge God and ask God to open your eyes,
you will see what He is doing.
All God requires of you is just that you believe Him.
The Israelites couldn't enter into the promised land
because of their disbelief.
What are you believing God for? Either you can believe
God and enter into your promise, or you can be in
disbelief and be sent back out to the wilderness.

Jesus was talking about salvation – to hold onto your salvation.
As it was in the day of Lot, is the way it will be when Jesus comes.
The big deal in Lot's day was homosexuality.
Gen 18:25-29, 30-33; 19:4-10; 19:24-25
Abraham asked if God would spare Sodom and Gomorrah if even 10
people were found who were not homosexual. So it was questionable
as to whether there were 10 people in both cities combined who
were straight.
God didn't exactly wipe out Sodom and Gomorrah because of
homosexuality per se – it's more complex than that. There were a
lot of families, and fewer than 10 of them were straight. The real
problem in Sodom and Gomorrah was gay pride. It was people pushing
for gay behavior to be taken as the norm.
We shouldn't let people pressure us into changing our minds about
homosexuality. Let them do what they want, but they need to let
us be what we want to be, even if our behavior makes them feel bad
about their own behavior.
Isa 14
An individual rebelling against God in sin is one thing, but the
attitude of the devil is to pressure everyone to join in with the
sinful behavior.
The Supreme Court decision is the same old attitude of pressure
to accept sin, and pressure to let it spread.
This attitude is in homosexuality, in alcoholism, in drug
addiction – if one person gets hooked into things like this, they
try to bring others into it, too. They get caught in a trap, so
they try to drag others into the trap with them. This is what
angered God about Sodom and Gomorrah.
2Ch 12:1 - God made Solomon's son, Rehoboam, strong, but Rehoboam
abandoned the law of The Lord, and all of Israel with him. One
person jumped off the train, and everyone jumped off with him.
The rest of the people should have had their own relationship with
God, rather than relying on Rehoboam's relationship.
Jer 23:1-2 ESV - Woe unto you, pastors. God doesn't take it lightly
when a pastor leads a whole flock astray. He holds leaders to a
higher standard.
We have to know God for ourselves. Even if our spiritual leaders
jump off the train, we need to stay on – we need to have our own
relationship with God.
2Ch 12:5 - Thus says the Lord – you abandoned Me,
so I have abandoned you.
God didn't say, You abandoned the law
, He said,
You abandoned ME.
Some pastors think they can change around the bible and interpret
things in a way that's different from what was originally meant.
If we abandon the Word, the Bible, then we abandon God.
Changing the Word to suit our own purposes amounts to abandoning it.
Rev 22:18-19 - I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy
of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the
plagues described in this book, and if anyone takes away from the
words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share
in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described
in this book.
You can't have God and abandoned the exactness of the Bible.
You won't have the Holy Spirit in your church if you start
changing the Bible.
Just as Peter said, You and your money shall perish
, we can also
say that someone changing the Word shall perish.
If we abandon the Word to suit the Supreme court, then we and the
Supreme court shall perish.
Paul was writing letters that were inspired by God, and we don't
have the original autographs, but we have the Word, and it's what
God wants us to know, even though there may be copy errors and
differences between manuscripts.
God does things to scale – Give your all to me,
and I'll give My all to you.
It's reciprocal – it's fit to scale.
Our 100% for His 100%. What a ridiculous trade.
There's a negative side to this equation: When we abandon God,
He'll abandon us as well.
We gain more by giving into God, and we lose more by turning our
backs on Him. No one else will hang on a cross for us.
Sometimes things that God does seem unfair, but we don't see the
whole plan. We shouldn't be angry with God.
If we reject God and He rejects us, Satan will step in and fill
the gap. Without God's protection, we are susceptible to anything.
God doesn't inflict things onto us, but He does take His protection away.
If we continue to reject God, we will end up like other nations,
where we won't be able to worship God without persecution.
God isn't really bothered by what people in the world do – they
don't belong to Him anyway. But when His people go astray,
that bothers Him.

150913 - Sharon Ralph - Resist, Focus and Rest
When time are tough, we know that God didn't cause them.
He may allow bad things to happen, but He didn't make them happen.
Whatever He allows to have happen to us, will somehow be used
for good if we are in right standing with Him.
Rom 8:28 KJV And we know that all things work together for good
to them that love God, to them who are the called according to
his purpose.
Jer 29:11 NIV -
For I know the plans I have for you,
declares the LORD,
plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future.
It's not God's will for us to suffer.
But then why do some people suffer?
- Choices we make
- Choices that others make that effect us
- Our environment
- Attacks from Satan
If your difficulties are part of the perfect will of God,
they will be used for good.
God's plan for us is perfect, just as god Himself is perfect,
but we must do our part to see that the plan comes to fruition.
God's plan is often revealed to us one step at a time, but we
must believe and have faith that He is working on it.
We must get to know God, listen and obey as He guides us
through His perfect plan.
Waiting for God's plan is like a pregnancy. You can't see it at
first, although you know it's happening. For 9 months daily
miracles occur to bring the pregnancy to fruition.
Waiting for God's plan is like waiting for a seed to grow.
We put the seed in the soil, and we don't see what's happening
under the soil, but we know that growth is happening.
When we're waiting for God to do something or take care of
something, we don't always see what God is doing; we need to
trust that He is doing what needs to be done, trust that He
know what He's doing to bring the situation to pass and to bring
the victory.
When the plan is God's, it will always result in victory.
God could do all of this without us, but He allows us to be
a part of the plan.
God has a Kingdom plan, of which all of His children are a part,
and an individual plan for each of us.
If we stay out of His way and in His will, He will show us
the wan and His plan will come to fruition.
Sometimes He gives us a glimpse because He knows we lack patience.
Hab 2:3 NASB - For the vision is yet for the appointed time;
It hastens toward the goal and it will not fnfail.
Though it tarries, wait for it;
For it will certainly come, it will not delay.
Satan will put bad thoughts in our minds, and if we let them
take root in our hearts, they will come out of our mouths.
Good things come from God, and evil things come from ungodly sources.
Satan will put bad thoughts into our minds that cause evil
ideas, actions, words and consequences.
Luk 6:45 KJV - A good man out of the good treasure of his heart
bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the
evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil:
for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
Satan will use others to hurt us by putting bad thoughts into
their minds.
Resist the devil and draw near to God.
We fight off the devil with spiritual warfare.
Eph 6:11-18 - The armor of God:
Helmet of salvation
Breastplate of righteousness (protects our hearts,
keeps evil from entering our hearts)
Shield of faith (Protects you from the 'missles and arrows' of
the wicked)
Belt of truth (To know and speak the truth, and to hear the
voice of truth, the Holy Spirit within us.)
Sword of The Word (Use God's Word to fight back the enemy.)
Shoes of peace - to walk in peace.
All of these are used to fight the enemy. The more aware you
are of them, the stronger you are to fight against the enemy.
Knowing that we're in God's will - the more we get to know God,
the more we get to know His Word, know how He works,
hear Him and feel Him.
Getting to know God well enough to be able to discern His will:
spend time with God, getting to know Him.
- Praying
- Reading
- Studying
- Asking
- Believing
Sometimes it's clear, and sometimes it takes research,
praying about it, and spending time alone with God before the
answer is revealed.
When a message is confirmed, it's easier to keep faith.
Confirmations come in the form of things other people say,
scripture, a message at church, a saying or scripture on the
screen, in a song, in a sermon, or spoken by a brother or sister.
When God confirms something, it is clear.
When things are confirmed, it's easier to have faith and trust
that God is taking care of things. this makes it easier to go
through difficult times.
Each experience strengthens our faith, but there can be times of
uncertainty, and that's when the enemy attacks. Those are the
times we need to draw near to God, but those are the times we
are least likely to want to make the effort to connect with God.
When we're in chaos, we don't make the time to read the Word or
take time to pray, but that's when we really need to be doing
those things.
Pushing ourselves to be with God even when we're going through
difficult times will still bless us.
Quiet time with God in the morning makes for a better day.
When something bad happens, stop for a minute and be still and
wait for God's guidance.
God lives within us, so we have:
- The knowledge of the universe
- The healing power of the world
- Wisdom
- Protection
- Agape love
The power of the Holy Spirit within us gives us the abilities
(gifts) to:
- break addiction
- forgive (myself and others)
- lift up and encourage others
- pray for my enemies
- hear His voice.
The closer we get to God, the more we can tap into that power
and those gifts.
These gifts:
- Keep us out of trouble
- Protect us
- Help others
- Guide us
- Help us make right decisions
- Help us to be in God's will.
Psa 102:25-27 - Of old You laid the foundation of the earth,
And the heavens are the work of Your hands.
They will perish, but You will endure;
Yes, they will all grow old like a garment;
Like a cloak You will change them,
And they will be changed.
But You are the same,
And Your years will have no end.
Focus, draw near to God, resist the devil, and rest in the peace of The Lord.

151004 - Lillian Harrison - The Comfort of the Secret Place
Psa 91 - He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High
shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the
LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I
trust.
We have a secret place, but there are requirements to be a part
of this secret place.
Shadow - To follow and observe someone closely,
typically secretly.
Refuge - A condition of being safe or sheltered from
pursuit, danger or trouble.
Fortress - A fortified place, especially a large, permanent
military stronghold that often includes a town.
Fouler - A hunter of birds.
Snare - A trap set for catching birds or animals.
Rampart - A broad elevation or mound or earth raised as a
fortification around a place. Anything serving as a defense.
Shadow:
God follows us; He is there. It is a secret to those who don't know
Him, but it's not a secret to us that He is protecting us.
Because He is our protection, He has given us many scriptures on fear.
He is our refuge
Psa 23
Fortress:
Pertaining to military, so it is built carefully
built to keep the enemy out.
God Himself is our fortress. Our flesh will crumble to the attacks
of the enemy, but God is protecting us, and has been since creation.
That was when He first revealed His love for us.
Fouler:
The devil is our fouler. He hunts us.
Our instinct is that we are going to be attacked. He can't attack
without permission, though. Our faith is being tried, and we find
out if our faith will hold.
The fouler sets traps for us. God makes us aware of those traps
through His Word. This is our protection, but we must be in The Word
and be reading the Bible to have that protection, and to be aware
of the traps it's warning us about.
We have to take the Word of God and hold it in our hearts.
This creates the fortress.
Although a secret place can refer to a physical location,
it is also the state of the soul in it's relationship with God.
Eze 36:24-28 - You shall be My people, and I will be Your God.
If we're not in, then we can't receive.
We can't make the changes needed to enter in - it is the Holy Spirit
that makes the changes within us, that lets us into the Secret Place.
The Secret place is not a physical place, but a fortress in our hearts.
Rom 7 - What I hate, I do.
Paul's account with the struggles with the flesh.
Paul wanted to do good, but evil was always tugging at his heart.
Allow the holy Spirit to live in us to let him do His part.
There is no good thing from the flesh, so learning about the flesh
is going to be unpleasant. but God is good and the Holy Spirit
within you is good.
Jhn 16:13 - The Holy Spirit must be free to lead and guide.
The Holy Spirit is the 'Yes, you can' living inside of you.
Even though the Holy Spirit is in you, it doesn't mean that you
are instantly delivered.
We like things to be instant, but if delivery were always instant,
then Paul would not have expressed the battle with the flesh
that he did.
The Holy Spirit makes us aware of what we need to be delivered from.
If The Holy Spirit wants us to learn, though, He will put us into
a situation where will have to learn, but it might not be instant.
You have to discipline your mind to accept situations if the Holy
Spirit is using it to teach you.
Jhn 15:4-5 - Abide in Me, and I in you.
Live with God, but not above God. If you perceive yourself as
being above God, then He can't teach you.
Jhn 16
God is the Master and we are the servants,
and we are to learn from him.
It's like children learning from their parents.
I Am the vine, and you are the branches.
Stay with Me, and I will stay with you.
Learn that you can't do anything without Me.
Every day we need to be renewed to live in that secret place.
We carry the secret place within our hearts.
Mat 28:20 - I Am with you always,
even until the end of the Age.
2Pe 2:9 - The Lord is not slack concerning His promise.
Psa 91:1 - if you stay in the secret place, you will stay under His shadow.

151115 - Pastor Larry Russi - Unholy Trinity: 3 enemies, 3 areas
of temptation
2Ti4:1-14 - Paul departing - to go home to The Lord. He was in
prison, about to be beheaded.
I fought the good fight, I have finished the race.
People in modern prisons have TVs and books. Paul was in a dungeon,
in shackles, yet he still praised God.
I haven't given up on God because God hasn't given up on me.
God isn't going to give up on us, either.
Paul suffered much - the shipwrecks, the beatings, but also had
healings and a resurrection in his ministry.
Paul may have been sad or angry, maybe discouraged. Demas left
Paul because Demas loved the world too much.
Demas deserted Paul when Paul really needed him, and no one came
to his support.
Keep your eyes on God.
Does it ever occur to you that nothing ever occurs to God?
There are 3 enemies that we as Christians need to be aware of
(an unholy trinity) and on our guard for, and 3 areas of temptation
and how to be victorious over them:
- The world
- The flesh
- the devil
The World
We are given all things to enjoy, as long as we are not in sin.
We don't want to have things that draw us away from
The Lord or draw us into sin.
1Jo 2:15-17 -
Do not love the world or the things in the world.
If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
For all that is in the world–the lust of the flesh, the lust
of the eyes, and the pride of life–is not of the Father but
is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of
it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.
3 Areas of temptation:
- The lust of the eyes
- The lust of the flesh
- The pride of life
Temptation itself is not sin, but yielding to it is. You can't
avoid being tempted, but you can avoid entertaining temptations.
You can't stop birds from flying overhead, but you can stop them
from nesting on your head.
Jas 4:4 -
Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that
friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore
wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
Satan makes the things of the world appealing to us, but they are
things that will cause us to fall. Traps, snares. Satan will come
against anyone who poses a threat. More likely he will come against
christians than the unsaved because we are more of a threat.
Godliness with contentment is great gain.
Sin is only pleasurable for a season.
The Holy Spirit brings conviction, but not condemnation.
We left behind sin, death and darkness–slavery–so
why would we want to go back to that?
This evil world is not our home.
We have freedom now, as Christ has set us free.
The Flesh
We died to self and we have the nature of Christ, but we still
have the flesh that we need to deal with.
Sin must not rule any longer in your mortal bodies.
We have been brought from death to life.
We are all tempted by different things. Different people are
tempted by different things.
We have the choice to go the way of The Lord, or the way of
the flesh. We can have victory in Jesus' name.
The Devil
Satan = adversary. The enemy.
We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against powers and
principalities.
Satan is relentless - we will have victory is one area, but then
we will be tempted in another area.
Satan is not all-powerful, but he is powerful. We can't defeat
him on our own - we need the name of Jesus.
Never drop your guard. Always be spiritually alert.
Pride comes before the fall. You may have 99 victories
and fall on the 100th temptation.
Paul was afraid that the church would be deceived by the enemy.
We can't be ignorant of Satan's devices.
The devil is subtle - he's clever.
Animals in a group stay huddled closely together for safety.
The ones that get away from the group are the ones that are killed
by predators. In the same way, it's good for us to stay with a body.
Rom 7:15-25 -
For what I am doing, I do not understand.
For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate,
that I do.
To avoid temptation, have absolute surrender to The Lord. Stay
in The Word and keep your eyes on Jesus.
Heb 10:24-25 - Do not forsake the assembly
1Pe 2:11-12, 15-16 - I appeal to you as strangers and refugees.
Do not give into bodily passions that are always at war with
the soul.
Keep your eyes on God, and stay in The Word.
People want to hear about blessings and not about trials
and temptations.
The greatest tragedy is not falling down–the greatest tragedy
is staying down.

Isa 55:8-9 - My ways are not your ways.
Father, Son and Holy Spirit are all God.
We can all be different things, eg. mother, daughter,
sister, wife..
there are some functions that are specific to certain roles, and
some functions that are common to all roles.
Our roles will change depending the situation - we are different
toward our families than we are toward our coworkers.
We are always a child of God in all roles.
Our roles in life aren't part of us but all of us in
different roles.
The Trinity are all God, even if they are all different roles.
Jesus is salvation, the Father provided the way for salvation,
and the Holy spirit leads us to and guides us in our salvation.
When God functions as the Son, He is referred to as Jesus.
When He functions as The Spirit within us, He is referred to as
The Holy Spirit.
Gen 1:1-11 - Speaking everything into existence.
Gen 1:26 - Let Us make man in Our image, after
Our likeness - the Trinity.
Gen 2:7 - God has no beginning, but became known to man at the
creation.
Rom 1:18 - God's nature and attributes are discernible in and
through the things that have been made.
God The Father is the judge. Jesus did not come to judge us,
nor does the Holy Spirit judge us on His own.
God was The Word.
Although Jesus was The Word of God long before He was known to man,
he was first known to man as flesh. He became our salvation and
our redemption.
Had Jesus not come, been crucified and resurrected, we would not
have received the Holy Spirit.
Jesus was the teacher, teaching the ways of the Father, but when
Jesus ascended into Heaven, The Holy Spirit remained as a teacher.
Jhn 14:26 - The Holy Spirit will teach us and cause us to recall
all the things that Jesus has taught us.
Act 2:3 - The Holy Spirit was presented at the day of Pentecost.
The Holy Spirit lives within us from the time we accept Jesus,
giving us the ability to forgive and endure, to resist temptation.
Without the power of the Holy Spirit within us, we would be the
same as we were before salvation. It's the Holy Spirit that
enables us to make changes in our lives, and to be able to hear
and obey God.
It is the Holy Spirit who is known as the revealer, revealing to
us the things of God and the teachings of Jesus. He helps us to
understand and remember.
The Holy Spirit is the God within us.
Father, Son and Holy Spirit are all God and all possess Godly qualities.
All possess omnipotence
Gen 17:1 - God is omnipotent - infinitely powerful.
Psa 115:3 - Our god is in Heaven - He does whatever He pleases.
Isa 40:28 - God does not faint or grow weary.
Christ has power over disease, the devil, death and destiny.
He showed His power over Satan when He was tempted by Satan in the wilderness.
Jhn 10:17-18 - "for this, The Father loves Me - because I lay down
My life, to take it back again. No one takes it away from Me.
On the contrary, I lay it down voluntarily."
Mat 24:31-33 - Jesus' power over destiny. The Son of man in His glory.
Isa 11:2 - The Spirit of The Lord shall rest upon Him.
The Spirit of wisdom and understanding.
Rom 15:19 - the power of signs and wonders by the power of The Holy Spirit.
All possess omniscience - the infinite knowledge of God.
Isa 40:13 - Who has directed The Spirit of The Lord? No one has ever taught God.
Col 2:2 - all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge and enlightenment.
1Cr 2:10 - God has unveiled and revealed them.
Col 2:11 - Just as no one perceives the thoughts of others, also
no one perceives the thoughts of God.
All possess omnipresence - existing everywhere.
Jer 23:23-24 - Father: Am I a God at hand and not a God of far off.
God fills Heaven and Earth.
Mat 18:20 - Jesus: Wherever two or three are gathered in My name,
there I am in the midst of them.
Psa 139:7-8 - Where could I flee from Your presence?
God is everywhere from Heaven to Sheol.
Jesus was God in the flesh
Sin separates us from God.
Blood must have been shed for the forgiveness of sin.
Heb 9:22 - Blood is shed for the forgiveness and remission of sin.
If Jesus had not been flesh, there would have been no blood to shed.
Col 1:14 - in whom we have our redemption through His blood.
Mar 26:28 - The blood of the New covenant.
Act 10:42-43 - everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness
of sin through His name.
Through Christ's willingness to die on the cross, His shed blood
entitled us to the forgiveness of sin, making Him the ultimate Lamb of God.
Although the Trinity is God; and Father Son and Holy Spirit have
no beginning or end; and although they are all-knowing, all-powerful,
and transcend time, space and presence; it is because Jesus became
flesh resisted temptation, led a sinless life, and obeyed the Father;
and because Jesus was willing to sacrifice His life for the sake
of mankind, that we have the opportunity to receive the blessing of salvation.
Forgiveness opens the door to the Kingdom of God and eternal life.
This is what gives us a life full of the blessing of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

151206 - Sharon Ralph - The Name, Jesus Christ
There is much power in the name of Jesus Christ, but do we really
understand this?
Believers aren't themselves given power like Jesus', but have authority
to access Jesus' power.
Jhn 1:12 - He gave the right to be called children of God
Jhn 15:16 - You have not chosen Me, but
I have chosen You.
Jhn 14:12-14 - If anyone believes he will
himself be able to do the things I do, and greater things
than these.
Jesus will grant us whatever we ask for in His name,
if it is in His will.
1Jo 5:14 - Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that
if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
If it doesn't align with God's will, it wouldn't be for our good
and we wouldn't want it.
God doesn't punish us for asking. Through His Word, He encourages
us to ask.
Mat 7:7 - Ask and it will be given, seek and you will find, knock
and it will be open.
But we can make our own mistakes, and usually not stopped by God.
But He can take our mistakes and turn them for good.
Rom 8:28 - All things work together for our good.
Nothing in the life of a believer is by chance, and nothing happens
without God's permission and foreknowledge.
We receive the authority through Jesus to cast out demons.
Mar 16:17 - In My name shall they cast out demons and speak with
new tongues.
We are more vulnerable to Satan if we are acting in our own name,
but in the name of Jesus, Satan has to obey, because it's
Jesus' authority.
Jesus has all authority over demons, and Satan. they must flee in
the name of Jesus.
Mat 28:18 - And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying,
All authority has been given to Me in
heaven and on earth.
So all believers have access to His authority.
We possess healing. It has already been done for us.
We have already been given healing from all disease and sickness.
Jesus took it all to the cross.
Our spiritual life can't be taken by physical disease. Our physical
body will die, but spiritually we will live forever.
If I am healed, we are there still symptoms?
Although we are healed, sometimes there is a process or a journey
that we may have to go through. Maybe to strengthen our faith, maybe
to bring us closer to God, or to relate to others who have
gone through it.
God doesn't make us sick, but He will sometimes allow us to get
sick for a purpose.
We receive the blessing of being able to forgive and pray for
our enemies.
Even a baby Christian has the authority to use Jesus' name.
We forgive by faith and believing that Jesus will and can do it.
Forgiveness bring a lifting of burden.
Christians pray in Jesus' name. What does this mean? When we ask
in the name of Jesus, we are calling upon Him. It is through Him
that power and authority are invoked in us, that we are saved,
strong and forgiven.
We are calling upon Him that power and authority is invoked, that
we're forgiven and saved.
When we pray in his name, we confirm that we believe in Him, what
He's done, is doing, and will do for us.
Jhn 3:18 - He who believes in Him is
not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already,
because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten
Son of God.
Jhn 16:23-27 - And in that day you will
ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the
Father in My name He will give you. Until now you have asked nothing
in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.
These things I have spoken to you in figurative language; but the
time is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figurative
language, but I will tell you plainly about the Father. In that day
you will ask in My name, and I do not say to you that I shall pray
the Father for you; for the Father Himself loves you, because you
have loved Me, and have believed that I came forth from God.
The things that we can pray for in Jesus' name are endless.
Praying in Jesus' name in conjunction with God's word, it's
unimaginably powerful.
We can pray for protection:
Psa 9:9 - The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed,
A refuge in times of trouble.
Psa 32:7 - You are my hiding place; You shall preserve
me from trouble;
Psa 52:9 AMP - I will thank You forever, because You have done it,
[You have rescued me and kept me safe]. I will wait on Your
name, for it is good, in the presence of Your godly ones.
If it's God's Word, it's God's will.
We can pray for help from The Lord:
Psa 28:7 - The Lord is my strength and my shield.
Psa 34:17 - The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears,
And delivers them out of all their troubles.
We receive righteousness through Jesus.
Pray in Jesus' name and believe and it is done.
The things we can pray for are endless, and the blessings that we
can receive are endless.
We can thank God for everything we have, even the little things.
We can pray and thank all day.
Throughout the day, Jesus is not only for us, He is with us.
He is protecting us, is helping us, and has healed us.
He restores finances, relationships and lives.
He died for us, not only to give us eternal life, but also so that
our lives here on Earth could be filled with the abundance of Jesus.
Jhn 20:30-31 - And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence
of His disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are
written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of
God, and that believing you may have life in His name.

151220 - Larry Russi - What's So Special About Jesus?
Phl 2:5-11 NIV - he humbled himself by becoming obedient to
death–even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the
highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, at
the name of Jesus every knee should bow...and every tongue should
confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
Isa 7:14 - Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold,
the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name
Immanuel.
Isa 9:6 - For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And
the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be
called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince
of Peace.
Names in those days meant something.
'Isaac' means laughter.
'Immanuel' means 'God with us.'
Jesus has the name above all names.
It seems like Jesus is being forgotten from Christmas.
We have Happy Holidays
and Seasons
Greetings
—What happened to Christ? To Merry Christmas?
People say that they're offended
by saying that Jesus is the
reason for the season, but how can they be offended when Christmas
is, by definition, a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ?
Everyone will have to bow a knee to Jesus. We bend the knee joyfully.
Satan will have to bend a knee.
'Jesus' means savior, 'Christ' means anointed.
Jhn 3:16
Jesus suffered a cruel death, born to die, but He did it out of love.
The plan of God was that we would receive redemption.
Jhn 1:1-2, 14 - And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and
we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the
Father, full of grace and truth.
Gal 4:4-5 - But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent
forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those
who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.
In order for us to understand Jesus, He had to become one of us.
He was a man, but without sin. Tempted, yet without sin. He knows
what people go through.
Jesus came to do many things, but there were three things that
we're going to look at today: He came to reveal the Father, to
serve and minister, and to destroy the works of the enemy.
To Reveal the Father to us:
Before Jesus came, no one truly knew God's nature. Those who
don't follow Jesus still don't know God's nature. Muslims believe
that Allah gets into a bad mood and if you did something wrong, you
should stay away from Allah. Hindus have thousands of impersonal gods.
Our God is personal - He knows us by name, and knows the count of
the number of hairs on our heads.
Jesus said, I and the Father are One.
Jhn 14:8-11 - Philip said to Him, Lord, show us the Father, and
it is sufficient for us.
Jesus said to him, Have
I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip?
He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, 'Show
us the Father'?
Jesus is approachable - Immanuel - God with us. Jesus ministered
in love.
To see what God is like, just look at Jesus.
1Jo 4:8 - He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
1Jo 4:18 - There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out
fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been
made perfect in love.
Jesus had compassion for people, like sheep without a shepherd.
Heb 4:16 - Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace,
that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Jesus bids us to come, even if we've strayed, because He loves us.
Act 10:38 - ...how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit
and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were
oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.
So Jesus not only revealed The Father to us, but also to serve
and to minister.
To Serve and To Minister
Phl 2:8 - And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself
and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
Other faiths (Islam, Buddhism) think that the death of
Christ is shameful.
The teachings of the Bible go completely in contrary to the
attitudes of the world; people want to be waited on.
The greatest among you will be a servant. The first shall be last
and the last shall be first.
Those who exalt themselves are going to be humbled.
Mat 19:30 - But many who are first
will be last, and the last first.
Mat 20:26-28 - Yet it shall not be so
among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him
be your servant. And whoever desires to be first among you, let
him be your slave.
The one who is first is the one who was last.
To Destroy the Works of the devil
Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil.
Bondage, darkness, etc..
On our own, we are no match for Satan.
Jesus destroyed the works of Satan on the cross when He said,
It is finished.
Rom 8:37 - Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors
through Him who loved us.
Rom 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is
eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The gift of God is just that - a gift. We can't pay for it.
We serve God out of love, not to earn our salvation or
to earn God's love.
Eph 2:1 KJV - And you hath he quickened, who were dead in
trespasses and sins;
Before Jesus, we were like walking zombies, wondering why we were
here on this planet.
Jesus has given us freedom and light, not darkness.
Jhn 10:10 - The thief does
not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.
I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it
more abundantly.
Jhn 3:16 - The unopened gift.

151227 - Grace Hampton - Redeemed to be Transformed
Redemption and transformation
Redemption = A purchase or a ransom, a price paid for freedom.
To gain or regain possession of something in exchange for payment.
Transformation (dictionary) = A thorough or drastic change in the
form, appearance or character.
Transformation (Biblical) = Change or renewal from a life that no
longer conforms to the ways of the world, to one that pleases God.
Why did we need redemption? Because Adam was the first transgressor,
and so we were born as sinners.
Adam started the sin, but are we making it any better? Are doing
any better when it comes to sin?
Rom 3:23-26 - for all have sinned and fall short of the
glory of God
The only way to be reconciled back to God was through sacrifice.
God had to send His only Son into the world. He is our redemption.
Jesus redeemed us from the curse of the law by shedding His own blood.
Jhn 3:36 - he who does not believe the Son shall not see life,
but the wrath of God abides on him.
Mar 1:15 - The time is fulfilled, and the
kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.
Rom 12:1-2 - I beseech you that you present your bodies a living sacrifice.
Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Jesus came so that we can be redeemed and transformed.
The birth happened for a reason.
We celebrate Christmas, but do we then go into a change in character?
the only way we can be changed is to accept His salvation plan.
This makes us connected with God.
Jhn 3 - Nicodemus asking about being born again.
A spiritual birth - you must be born again. Nicodemus didn't
understand this - it seemed nonsensical to him.
We as people complicate things, and we complicate the salvation plan.
God forgives us when we sin, as long as we repent.
Salvation doesn't mean that we will become sin-free and have
everything right. Things won't be perfect, but we can always
run back to God.
We don't get it right, but we continue to slowly improve, and
one day the thing we struggle with will be behind us.
Don't give up - it's a slow process of improvement.
If you want something badly enough, you go after it passionately.
That's how we have to go after Jesus.
Rom 10:9 - if you confess with your mouth and believe that Jesus
Christ has been risen from the dead, you will be saved.
We also need to repent. We need to admit that we're sinners.
No one made you do anything. People will influence you,
but we still are in control.
No one can ever make you do something.
If you really are physically forced into something, then God
knows your heart.
This message in a nutshell would be, Salvation: you must
be born again.
The results of your choice is that Christ came, He redeemed us
from the curse of sin, and now we are transformed people living
in the righteousness of God.
Rom 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is
eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
It's better to find out that Heaven and Hell are real now rather
than later.
For those who are saved, we can't wait to see the Christ who
saved us.
God's redemptive plan was so that we can experience the transformation
which reflects the likeness and the glory of God.
We need to move toward taking on the essence of God Himself.
What would Jesus do?
is becoming cliché, but we need to take
it seriously.
Jhn 3:16-17 - For God so loved the world
that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him
should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send
His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world
through Him might be saved.

The Road We All Must Travel

Following the path Jesus has for us isn't always easy. - Jhn 21:16-22; Mat 28:20; Deu 31:6; 1Co 13:11; 2Pe 3:18; Deu 32:11; Jhn 3:30; Jhn 16:33; Mat 10:34-36; Mat 7:13-14; 1Ti 6:6; 1Co 9:27; Mar 1:17; 1Co 11:1; 2Co 5:7

160103 - Pastor Larry - The Road We All Must Travel
Jhn 21:16-22 - Jesus asking Peter,
Do you love me?
And later telling him,
...what is that to you?
You follow Me.
We shouldn't be concerned about what other brothers and sisters
are doing, but instead focus on our own walk with Jesus.
People sometimes wonder why The Lord has us here–what we're
supposed to be doing.
God will send us in a certain direction, and we won't necessarily
know why, but we stay obedient.
Sometimes it seems like God isn't there, but we can't let our faith
weaken. We start to feel like God has forgotten us. But God will
do what He will do, in His own time.
Jesus talked about growing older to Peter;
when
you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird
you and carry you where you do not wish.
Sometimes we don't want to go in the direction God has for us.
We are comfortable doing what we're doing, but god will shake us
out of our comfort zones and take us in another direction.
It's the road we must travel.
Sometimes that road we travel isn't pleasant. Sometimes the road
gets rough and we get confused, kind of like driving around
Boston–128S turns into 93N, which merges into
95N—What road am I even on?
We have to be trusting. It's like being on a train that goes
through a tunnel–it gets dark, but don't jump off the train.
We trust the engineer that they will get us through the tunnel
and get us to our destination safely.
In the same way, The Lord has told us He is with us until the
end of the age, and that He would never leave us or forsake us.
Mat 28:20 -
I am with you always,
even to the end of the age.
Deu 31:6 - ...for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you.
He will not leave you nor forsake you.
When Jesus was telling Peter to feed His sheep, He was telling
Peter it was time to grow up Spiritually and find Jesus' will.
1Co 13:11 - When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood
as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man,
I put away childish things.
2Pe 3:18 - Peter said we should,
grow in the grace and knowledge
of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
If we're on the wrong road,
that's not going to happen. If we aren't following God, then we
won't be growing that way.
Deu 32:11 - ...an eagle stirs up its nest...
A parent eagle will make the nest uncomfortable with thorns to make
the eaglets want to leave the nest. We can't let ourselves stay in
our comfort zones. We won't grow if we don't move on, and God won't
get the glory.
We get in our comfort zones in ministry - things going well, the
church healthy and growing, and we might be perfectly happy there,
but God might say that you've done your job there and now it's
time to move on.
God will move us to where we will grow and where He can use us.
We need to be obedient.
It's tempting to return to things we can count on when
God becomes unpredictable.
Don't try to figure God out–He has a perspective you can't
possibly see. We can't even comprehend the full nature of God.
The only thing we can do is to trust and obey.
After the crucifixion, Peter went back to fishing, which was his
comfort zone, and 6 other disciples went with him. But Jesus went
and got them, telling them to cast the net on the other side of
the boat, and telling Peter later on to feed His sheep, i.e. go
into ministry instead of staying in his comfort zone. The result
was that, on the day of the Pentecost, Peter preached and 3,000
souls were saved.
We don't necessarily want to travel the road that God has for us,
but it's the right way for us to go in order for us to be used by
God. The more we travel God's road, the less of us there will be
and the more of Jesus there will be in us.
Jhn 3:30 - He must increase, but I must decrease.
Jhn 16:33 -
...In the world you will have
tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.
Mat 10:34-36 -
Do not think that I came
to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword.
God's road is often lonely because a lot of people don't want to
travel such a hard road.
The road less travelled is not an easy road. It's a paradoxical
road that is death that leads to life: die to live, give to receive, etc..
Jesus spoke of two roads–the straight and narrow that leads
to life and the wide that leads to destruction.
Mat 7:13-14 -
...narrow is the gate and
difficult is the way which leads to life.
But that is the gate to salvation. After we're saved, though, we
still need to continue to travel on God's road. This allows us to
get closer to God and be in the center of His will.
If we want to be more than a Sunday Christian, if we hunger for
more of Jesus, to go deeper, then we need to get onto that road.
He'll point out the way–just get on that road.
Getting onto that road causes us to live for Christ and not for self.
Like going to the dentist or the doctor or to school when we were kids,
we didn't always like to do some things, but those things were
good for us, even when they were unpleasant.
We have to choose the right roads, but we don't know what's ahead
or where we are ultimately going to end up, but we need to stay
obedient to God.
Mar 8:34 -
Whoever desires to come after
Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.
1Ti 6:6 - Godliness with contentment is great gain.
1Co 9:27 NIV - Paul - I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave.
Saying no to self and yes to God.
After we deny ourselves, we have to take up our cross.
This isn't referring to a burden, but of dying to self and living
for God.
When Christ calls someone, He bids them to come and die.
Die to sin and self.
If your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out. Not literally,
of course, but to give up things in our lives, even if that hurts.
When God requires that we give something up,
He has something better for us.
When someone was taken out to be crucified, they weren't coming
back. When we take up our cross, we aren't coming back, either,
meaning the old self. We do come back as new creatures in Christ,
on the right road–the road less travelled.
After denying self, then come and follow God.
Mar 1:17 -
Follow Me, and I will make
you fishers of men.
Matthew gave up his job to follow Christ. It had to be a quick
decision, as Jesus wasn't going to wait around for them to
make a decision.
1Co 11:1 KJV - Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.
2Co 5:7 - Walk by faith, not by sight.
We go down the road, following God's directions all the way.
We won't know what's down the road or what way to go, but God knows
and He will lead us and guide us if we let Him.
When things are going well, it's time to move on.
C.S. Lewis said,
There are far better things ahead than any we
leave behind.
Robert Frost - The Road Not Taken (last verse):
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

160110 - Pastor Danny Bullock - The Shepherd and His sheep
Jhn 10:1-18 - He who enters the sheepfold by some other way is a
thief and a robber.
Jesus is the door - the Good Shepherd.
Jesus made it clear who He was. He referred to himself as the I AM.
Don't assume that people who are afflicted have done something wrong
– God does sometimes allow things to happen so that He can be
glorified in it. People will see God's power in it.
Sometimes God will allow things in your life
so that His power would be seen.
The Pharisees weren't being responsible - they were supposed to
be the shepherds, but they had come in another way.
God's people are referred to as sheep.
Sheep are completely dependent upon the shepherd to
protect them and lead them.
We should consider it an honor to be a sheep,
to be dependent on God.
Isa 53:6 - All we like sheep have gone astray.
We have all turned the wrong way - lost sheep.
There are people who try to do something with their lives,
never realizing that they are lost sheep, going the wrong way.
People are playing PowerBall to try to bring meaning to their lives.
That doesn't mean that money is itself a bad thing, but it doesn't
give meaning to your life, either.
To bring us back into the fold, God had to send His Son.
Psa 100:3 - We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
God made us to belong to Him. We are not our own people,
we are the sheep of His pasture.
People who are not in the sheepfold
will always feel like
they are chasing something, never really satisfied, because God
made us to belong to Him.
The world makes us hard, but God will strip us of that hard exterior.
Rom 8:36-37 - For His sake we are killed all day long.
We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
But Paul could praise God even when he was in prison, or whipped,
or shipwrecked, because he was more than a conqueror.
It is an honor to be in God's sheep fold.
Jesus isn't just a shepherd, He is The Good Shepherd.
Even when we're going through things, He is good.
We say, God is good all the time
so it's almost
cliché, but it really is true. He is good all the time.
If God gives you responsibility over His people, learn how to be a
shepherd from the good shepherd. Some people can't handle having
authority over others–it goes to their heads and it's like
you don't even know them any more.
Psa 23:1 - The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want.
David understood that we are sheep. That's why he knew he could
take down Goliath–he knew it was about the shepherd.
He knew that he himself was just a sheep.
Our power comes from our shepherd.
The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep. If we didn't have
that, we'd be lost, no matter how much money you have.
Mar 8:36 - For what will it
profit a man if he gains the whole world,
and loses his own soul?
He gave us life that we might have life. We didn't find Jesus,
He wasn't lost, He came and got us. We didn't come alive until
Jesus came and got us.
He gave us His life, that we might have life.
We don't even die when we die. The world can't understand that.
We don't have to wait until we die to have eternal life - we have
that eternal life right now–it's living in Christ right now
by the Holy Spirit.
Don't let the devil tell you you are dying. The devil doesn't have
the authority to do that. Jesus took that away from him. Sometimes
it looks like you were almost killed, but you weren't, even if it
looks like it was a close call - we go when Jesus says it's time
to go. The devil doesn't have any say.
Jesus is also the door. To bring the sheep into the fold is to
bring them into a place of safety and security. We can only come
in through the door, through Jesus. He is the I AM.
In the natural, a pen is built for the sheep, the sheep are brought
into the pen (into the fold), and someone (a gatekeeper) watches
the gate. The gatekeeper is effectively acting as the door
.
This brings the sheep in to a place of safety and security.
Jhn 10:9 - If anyones comes through Me, he will be saved.
Everything we need is provided. I shall not want.
Our time is not God's time, don't try to put God on your calendar;
just trust Him as The Shepherd and know that all as well, and it
will be taken care of.
God does not make this up as He goes - for Him, it's already set,
it's already there. From our perspective, it just needs to play out.
From God's perspective, it's already all laid out. It's in place.
Jesus leads us by example in the right ways that we should go.
Psa 23:4 - Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I shall fear no evil. Why? Because He goes before me...
He doesn't have our backs - He leads us.
If we are in need, God knows that need and how to take care of it.
He'll lead us where we need to be in that situation.
He knows His sheep, not just our names, but really knowing us
better than we know ourselves. He knows our make-up.
Sometimes, Jesus will show us things about ourselves. Sometimes we
don't understand why we act the way we do, but He knows.
It's relationship - as He knows us, we get to know Him.
We have to continually develop that relationship. Don't just
settle for the surface; there's always more to know. We can have
the same relationship that Jesus has with His Father.
My sheep know My voice.
–It's
not just a sound; His voice is spoken through His Word, through
The Holy spirit into our spirit, and, yes, sometimes people do hear
the spoken word of God, but it usually isn't that often.
He also speaks through a song, a sermon, a testimony...
Open the Word, and you'll hear the voice of The Lord.
Search out The Word.
We feel the leading of The Spirit, like, Something told me to
call you. I just felt like I needed to call.
That's the
sensitivity to The Spirit.
Sometimes He'll speak to us through children.
We know The Shepherd's voice because we get to know Him.
Sometimes we don't hear the things from God that we want to hear,
but if we're sure it's The Lord, then we have to go that way.
We follow the good Shepherd's voice, but there are fakes, phonies,
wanna-be's, counterfeits.
God doesn't do things as a show.
Counterfeits put on a show, but they are coming into the sheepfold
through some other way. Counterfeits will tell you what you want
to hear. They will tell you you will be successful in anything that
you want to do, but God will make you successful when you stay in
His will, not your own. You'll be successful in anything God gives
you to do.
If there is a prophecy and you go changing things, then that misses
the point. If it's God's will then God will bring you to it.
God will take care of it. When the time comes, it'll happen–you
shouldn't have to change anything.
If you change things in response to a prophecy, you'll do things
that God didn't tell you to do.
The devil tries to fake the voice of God, but ask for a confirmation.
When you become saved, the voice of your own flesh becomes strange.
Eve didn't recognize the voice of the devil in the garden.
The devil won't tell you that he's the devil - he makes things
look good, sound good, and appeal to the natural senses.
Be encouraged - The Shepherd is leading us. Even when you're
hurting, it is well. He is the shepherd, and He's leading us.

Lord, what will You have me do?
What can He accomplish through me?
Jhn 15:16 - Ye have not chosen me,
but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and
bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain…
The people in the Bible were nothing special,
other than that they gave their hearts to God.
We want to see God do great things through us, but it boils down
to whether or not we've given our hearts to The Lord. Are you
willing to ask, Lord, what can you accomplish through me?
And when you ask that question, are you willing to follow whatever
instructions He gives you?
Noah was just obedient. He wasn't an expert at building, but was
obedient and he built the arc. God gave him the dimensions of the
arc and told him how it should be built, and Noah didn't question
it—he just followed the instructions.
Joseph didn't have a pleasant journey in his life. He had to get
to Egypt, and he ended up where God wanted him.
Joseph was an ordinary kid, but the experiences that God sent him
through shaped him to be the man that God wanted him to be.
Moses was hidden because he was going to be killed. He was raised
as an Egyptian and became part of the Egyptian culture. He became
a liason between the Egyptians and the Jews.
Moses was an ordinary man who had a heart for God and was obedient.
Abraham and Sarah were given instructions. They didn't do as they
were told at first, but eventually were obedient, and became the
parents of nations.
David and Goliath.
We aren't super people, but we have Jesus and He can accomplish
things through us. We have The Holy Spirit who is that power.
We tend to put limits on what we will give to The Lord. We box
ourselves in
to limit what we offer to The Lord. God will only
use what we offer Him. He will not break down our box.
God knows what we are fully capable of but if we don't fully offer
it, then we limit what God can do with us.
Think if what your box
is—our box is our comfort zone.
We complain, but then, so did the Israelites.
Isa 41:10 KJV - Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed;
for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee;
yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
Why? Because I chose you - you did not choose Me.
We have to be useful, and not limit ourselves to only being useful
at certain times or limited in some way.
We accepted salvation, but we did so to go out and witness to others,
bring the salvation message to them, too.
David and Goliath - His brothers were soldiers,
and he was just a shepherd.
Mary and Joseph - an ordinary couple gets to be responsible for
the Savior.
Jonah - An ordinary man that was given a job by God that he didn't
want to do.
When God asks us to go out of our comfort zone, we complain.
Jonah was told by God to do certain things. Jonah had his own plan
instead, but God sent the fish.
Daniel and the lion's den -
Dan 3:12-30 - Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego in the furnace.
Trust God with our hearts and trust God's plan.
Trust God to lead you and guide you.
Jesus - when Adam was born, he had a great responsibility.
Created in the image of God, but Adam fell.
God raised up the last Adam.

160214 - Pastor Charlie - Healing the Sick
God's will in healing—it is God's will that all of His
children will be healed.
Psa 40:7-8; Heb 10:7 - Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of
the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.
Jhn 6:38 -
For I came down from heaven,
not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
So we see that Jesus came to do the will of the Father God.
If that's the case, then we should look at how Jesus conducted Himself.
Mat 4:24 - And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought
unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and
torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those
which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy;
and he healed them.
Mat 8:16 - When the even was come, they brought unto him many that
were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and
healed all that were sick:
Mat 12:15 - But when Jesus knew
it, he withdrew himself from
thence: and great multitudes followed him, and
he healed them all;
Mat 14:14 - And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and
was moved with compassion toward them, and
he healed their sick.
Mat 15:30 - And great multitudes came unto him, having with them
those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others,
and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and
he healed them:
Mat 19:2 - And great multitudes followed him; and
he healed them there.
Mat 21:14 - And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple;
and
he healed them.
Luk 4:40 - Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick
with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands
on every one of them,
and healed them.
Luk 6:19 - And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there
went virtue out of him,
and healed them all.
Luk 9:11 - And the people, when they knew
it, followed him:
and he received them, and spake unto them of the kingdom of God,
and healed them that had need of healing.
Jhn 12:45 -
And he that seeth me seeth
him that sent me.
So Jesus and The Father are one—Jesus' actions are an example
of God The Father's will.
Jesus never refused to heal someone. Since this is an example of
The Father's will, we shouldn't need to ask God,
If it be Your
will to heal me…
we can see that it always is God's
will that we be healed.
Only one person asked Jesus
If it be Your will to heal me…
:
Mark 1:40-42 - And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and
kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst
make me clean. And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand,
and touched him, and saith unto him,
I will;
be thou clean.
And as soon as he had spoken, immediately
the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed.
We know what God's will is, because at every opportunity,
Jesus healed them all.
jhn 10:30 -
I and my
Father are one.
Jesus healed them all, and Jesus was doing the will of The Father,
so the will of The Father must be that all are healed.
Mat 7:11 -
If ye then, being evil, know
how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your
Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
How many fathers, to punish their children, would deliberately give
them a disease? None. And neither would the perfect Father, God.
God doesn't make people sick. Not even for His glory. Healing is
provided for all.
Num 23:19 - God
is not a man, that he should lie; neither
the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he
not do
it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
So God will do what He says He will do.
Jer 1:12b - Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for
I will hasten my word to perform it.
So God will make sure that His promises are all carried out.
Heb 10:5-7 - Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith,
Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou
prepared me: In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast
had no pleasure. Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book
it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.
God wants to heal everyone.
Exo 23:25;
Exo 15:26 - I Am The Lord who healeth thee.
There can not be doubt in your mind. You need the faith to open
the door for healing to take place.
Until faith is exercised without doubt or wavering, you may never be healed.
Heb 11:6 - But without faith it is impossible to please him: for
he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a
rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Jas 1:6-7 - But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that
wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
Once people are fully convinced that God wants to heal them, that
it's not God's will for them to be sick, they almost always receive
their healing when prayed for. Sometimes, even before they're prayed for.
jhn 14:13
1jo 5:14 - And this is the confidence that we have in him, that,
if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
luk 4:40;
Wherever healing is preached in its full benefits for all, and people
give heed to the word preached, faith is imparted and people are
healed. It is God's will to heal you, not for you to stay sick.
Heb 13;8
God never changes and His word is true.
Exo 15:26;
Mat 12:15; 23:37 - the 2 great commandments.
Satan causes sickness but God does not. God is the author of life.
Mat 10:5; Luk 10:1; Mar 15:16 - Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel.
Mar 16:16-18 - He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but
he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow
them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall
speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they
drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them;
they shall
lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
If we have faith, we have healing.
Jas 5:14-15 - Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders
of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil
in the name of the Lord: And
the prayer of faith shall save
the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have
committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
The word,
saved
in the Greek is,
Sozo
(G4982
- σῴζω) [
to save a suffering one
(from perishing), i.e. one suffering from disease, to make well,
heal, restore to health
—Thayer's Greek Lexicon].
The elder uses the prayer of
faith. The prayer of faith is
that prayer that is made with complete assurance that God will do
it. If you just hope instead of believe, you've prayed the prayer
of
hope instead of the prayer of
faith.
Jhn 14:12 - Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on
me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than
these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
But faith is mandatory
Jhn 14:17
The Creator of the universe lives in you.
We should remind ourselves that Jesus lives in us.
Mat 18:19 -
Again I say unto you, That if
two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they
shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in
heaven.
God doesn't lie, and His Word is true, and we have to believe.
So why don't some people get healed? The 2 biggest reasons are:
- Not being taught that God does heal
- Not believing that they were healed when they were prayed over
You must believe that you have received a healing.
It doesn't matter if you feel like you're healed or not—if
God acts you might not feel healed right away but you still need
to stand on His Word and keep that faith to receive that healing.
Mat 13:57 - And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them,
A prophet is not without honour, save
in his own country, and in his own house.
And he did not
many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
Mar 11:23 - If you say to this mountain, be thou removed…
Mar 11:24;
We have to believe—that's critical. We must believe.
Preach the gospel to every creature.
Mar 16:16 - He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but
he that believeth not shall be damned.
This doesn't refer to water baptism, but salvation.
There are 3 baptisms:
- Salvation
- Water
- Holy Spirit
Salvation means immersed in Jesus. This is the first baptism.

160228 - Pastor Larry Russi - Sin
Jas 1:13-15 NIV - When tempted, no one should say, God is tempting
me,
for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He temp anyone;
but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own
evil desire and enticed.
Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin,
when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.
God does not tempt anyone.
Desire->Sin->Death
We are dragged away by our own sin. Don't blame others for your sin.
Gen 3:12
Psa 51 - David confessed his sin about adultery and murder.
He said to God, Against You and You only have I sinned.
Of course he also sinned against others, but first and foremost against God.
Luk 15:11-32 - The Prodigal Son - When he returned, he said,
I've sinned against Heaven and in your sight. But first and
foremost against God.
With sin, one thing leads to another—one sin leads to the next.
That's the bad news, but there's good news, too.
The evil one gains no ground that we don't give to him.
Satan seduces only those who are in the market for seduction.
Satan deceives only the self-deceived.
If you really want to resist, you can.
We can't always blame Satan—we have a sinful nature that
we all have to deal with.
What Is Sin?
Mat 6:12 - Transgression of the law. That's debts, falling short
of the glory of God.
Rom 3:23 - For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Sinful behavior is habit-forming. It is progressive.
Stopping sinful behavior is, in essence, breaking an addiction.
Sin is pleasurable, but only for a season.
If you're a believer, the happiness you get from sin is not going
to last, because you'll realize that you've sinned against a holy God.
Where did sin come from?
Rev 12:7-9 - Satan rebelled against God and was cast out of Heaven
Eze 28:15 - You were blameless...until sin was discovered in you.
Where did Satan get sin? No one knows.
Satan is looking for those of us who have dropped our guard, who
haven't been praying, who haven't been listening to the Holy Spirit,
and he encourages us to go in the wrong direction.
Consequences of Sin
Rom 6:23 - Paul: For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory
of God. For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal
life through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Isa 53:6 - All we like sheep have gone astray.
Gen 2:16-17 - Stay away from the tree of the knowledge of good and
evil, because in the day you eat from it, you'll die.
Satan mixes a lie strategically into the truth. If he said a blatant
falsehood, you would know it was bogus, but if it's mixed into the
truth, you are less apt to notice the lie.
Eve was wondering why God was withholding the knowledge of good and
evil. Once they ate, though, they had lost their innocence.
Satan's goal is to make you take your eyes off of Jesus, make you
doubt The Lord, make you fear God, bring you down and hinder you
in your walk with The Lord.
Isa 59:2 - Your iniquities have separated you from your God.
God can't bless sin. He can't condone that sin.
It breaks our fellowship with God.
What to do About Sin
Heb 4:16
If we have confessed our sin, we need to come boldly to the throne
of grace so that we will have mercy.
You can go immediately back to God for forgiveness. You don't
have to wait for God to cool off.
Jhn 8:4-11 - The woman caught in adultery—Jesus didn't condone
the sin, but He didn't condemn her either. He forgave her.
Sin is like leaves clogging a stream, clogging the flow of
blessings coming into our lives.
God forgives us to a point where He no longer sees the sin at all.
He cancels them out, so we can stand in the presence God like we
have never committed that sin.
We can't pay for our sin, but Jesus has already paid for them.
Just receive the gift.
Christ forgives us immediately like as if we never committed that sin.
We need to let go of sin and not pick it back up again. It's
buried, so don't dig it back up.
1Jn 5:13 - We can know without a doubt that our sins
have been forgiven.
Jesus has conquered sin and death.
This is not freedom to sin, but freedom FROM sin.
There's no need to be afraid of God, but conviction is a good thing.
We feel grief from conviction. Condemnation is a bad thing, though.
Condemnation is of the devil.
Rom 8:1 - [There is] therefore now no condemnation to those who
are in Christ Jesus.
Sometimes the three hardest words to say are, I have sinned.
It as if the devil is putting us on trial,
but God the Father is the judge.
Satan calls the Holy Spirit to the witness stand. And yes, we have
grieved the Spirit. Then Jesus walks in and has the price paid.
By that contract, we are declared innocent, despite everything else.
If your sin disturbs you, it only shows that you love God because
your sin disturbs you. It shows conviction of the Holy Spirit.
After the grief of conviction should be the joy of forgiveness.
Luk 15:20-24 - It's just like when the prodigal son returned.
Luk 15:10 - Even the angels rejoice when one accepts Christ.
Confession and repentance go together. This is repentance (turning
away from sin), not penance (paying for sin).
Repentance is like soldiers going, Halt! about face!
Turning away from sin and going God's way now.
What sin boils down to is selfishness.
1Jn 1:9 - If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just and will
forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
He cleanses us with the blood of Christ.
Psa 103:2-3 - Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his
benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases.
Psa 103:12 - As far as the east is from the west, so far has he
removed our transgressions from us.
Mic 7:19 - You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our
sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea.
God takes all our sins, past, present and future, and dumps them
into the sea, and then puts up a sign that says, No Fishing Allowed!

160313 - Larry - Fear and trembling
Phl 2:1-13 NIV - If any comfort or joy, then have humility.
Put others before yourself. Even Christ, the Son of God, humbled Himself.
Work out your salvation with fear and trembling…
Fear has torment.
What did Paul mean by,
[W]orking out your salvation with fear and trembling
?
We must work out our own salvation.
Do we need to work for salvation with fear?
We can't take things from the Bible out of context. Who is writing?
To whom is he writing? What was happening at the time? What was
the text around it saying?
What did Paul mean that we have to work out our salvation?
Thinking that we have to work
for our salvation
can put people into bondage.
Phl 2:12-13 - [F]or it is God who works in you to will and to act
in order to fulfill his good purpose.
Verse 13 says that it is God who works in you.
God gives us the power and anointing that we need. We can't be
holy without the Holy Spirit.
God's work is going to be done through you and in you.
We can't save ourselves or keep ourselves.
It would be foolish to think that. It is God who saves us and
keeps us by His power.
Salvation is of God. We were dead in our sin, but God
quickened
us—gave us life.
We should be comforted by God's word. Remember that we will
be with Him forever.
My soul looks back and wonders how I got over. How did I make it?
Through the grace of God&mdashthrough His Holy Spirit.
By God's anointing, blessing and power.
2Co 5:17 - Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has
come: The old has gone, the new is here!
We are new creatures in Christ. The old man has passed away.
So salvation is of God and He works in us to give us
the desire to be saved.
The end of the salvation process is to be with God.
Mat 28:20 -
[T]eaching them to observe
all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always,
even to the end of the age.
Phl 1:6 - being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun
a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;
God is doing the work and He will bring it to completion.
God won't start a work in you and then abandon you to finish it yourself.
Heb 12:2 - [L]ooking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith …
Deists believe that the world was created by God,
but that He is not involved with it now.
Theists believe that God is still involved in the world.
He has His hand on all things.
Exo 14:13 - And Moses said to the people,
Do not be afraid.
Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will
accomplish for you today.
God will see that we make it to the other side.
Keep moving—if you're going through hell, don't stop.
Eph 2:8-9 - For by grace you have been saved through faith,
and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.
Paul said to work out our salvation, not work
FOR our
salvation, which is a gift.
The law that requires faith, not works.
Grace, by definition, is unearned. We couldn't possibly earn
salvation, but we don't have to.
Rom 3:27-28 NIV - Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded.
Because of what law? The law that requires works? No, because of
the law that requires faith.
We play a part in our salvation, but not to save ourselves.
Keep your eyes on Jesus.
If you see someone fall, don't criticize them—help to restore them.
We should have a ministry of restoration.
The Christian life can be be thought of as running a race.
Phl 3:13 KJV - Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended:
but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind,
and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press
toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Forget about things behind us and strive for the things ahead of us.
We play a part, then, since there needs to be spiritual growth in
our walk with The Lord.
2Pe 3:18 - [B]ut grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.
Why do we have to work it out with
fear and trembling.
1Jo 4:18 DBY - There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out
fear; for fear has torment, and he that fears has not been made
perfect in love.
1Jo 4:18 NIV - There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives
out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears
is not made perfect in love.
Are we supposed to be afraid of God then?
Heb 10:31 - It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
But we know God—it's more fearful for one who does not have salvation.
Mat 10:28 -
And do not fear those who kill
the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able
to destroy both soul and body in hell.
But we don't have to fear that.
Jhn 5:24 -
Most assuredly, I say to you,
he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting
life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death
into life.
We read about different kinds of fear in the Bible.
Gen 3:10 - So he said,
I heard Your voice in the garden, and I
was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.
Adam and Eve were literally afraid of God and hid from Him.
You can't run from God because you will run into Him.
Be an encouragement for those who have fallen into sin.
Gen 28:16-17 - Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said,
Surely
the LORD is in this place, and I did not know it.
And he was
afraid and said,
How awesome is this place! This is none other
than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven!
Jacob woke up and was afraid.
Isa 6:1-5 - Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of
unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips;
For my eyes have seen the King, The LORD of hosts.
Luk 5:8 - When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees,
saying,
Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!
Luk 1:10-13 - And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled,
and fear fell upon him.
Mat 14:25-31 - And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea,
they were troubled, saying,
It is a ghost!
And they cried
out for fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying,
Be of good cheer! It is I;
do not be afraid.
Rev 1:17 - And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He
laid His right hand on me, saying to me,
Do
not be afraid; I am the First and the Last.
How can we enjoy salvation, live an abundant life here on the Earth,
and enjoy the blessings of God if we're always afraid?
This is not what Paul was talking about.
Luk 12:32 -
Do not fear, little flock,
for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
What Paul was really saying is that we should have awe and reverence.
Phl 2:12 NET - So then, my dear friends, just as you have always
obeyed, not only in my presence but even more in my absence, continue
working out your salvation with
awe and reverence,
Greek breakdown:
work out your salvation with
[Greek: φόβος - phobos - G5401 - definitions: 1. Fear 2. Reverence*]
… and …
[Greek τρόμος - tromos - G5156 - fear and trembling, used to describe the anxiety of one who distrusts his ability completely to meet all requirements, but religiously does his utmost to fulfil his duty*]
*Thayer's Greek Lexicon
Some people think that they won't know where they're going until
after they die and find out. But we can make that peace with God
now and then not have that fear because you know where you're going.
Work out your own salvation by obeying The Lord and living for Him.
With His help, live a holy and pure life, doing that with awe and
reverence for The Lord.
Why do we love him?
1Jo 4:19 - We love Him because He first loved us.
Rom 5:8 KJV - But God commendeth his love toward us, in that,
while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
How do we work out our salvation? With awe and reverence.
Pro 1:7 - The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
The moral benefits of wisdom:
Pro 2:3-5 NIV - indeed, if you call out for insight and cry
aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and
search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the
fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God.
That's why we want to work it out—we want to know the mind of God.
So as we have that fear, that reverence for Him, realizing that He's
an awesome God, that's the beginning of wisdom, and we're drawing
closer and closer to The Lord because of that. That's one of the
ways in which we are working out our salvation.
The
fear of the Lord
is reverential submission to His will.
Reverence of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom—a disciplined
life that leads to wisdom.
It's expressed in our hatred of evil, our avoidance of sin, and
so results in a prolonged life.
Pro 9:11 - For through wisdom your days will be many, and years
will be added to your life.
2Pe 3:18 - But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.
The Word is spiritual food and will cause us to grow.
So how do we do that?
Just as you have to feed your body, you also have to feed your spirit.
We give our bodies three hot meals a day, but then only give our
spirits a cold snack every now and then.
Ecc 12:8 -
Meaningless! Meaningless!
says the Teacher.
Everything is meaningless!
Ecc 12:13-14 - Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of
the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty
of all mankind. For God will bring every deed into judgment,
including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.
The teacher/Preacher/Philosopher wanted to know the meaning of life.
Is there a god? is He good? Why is there evil in the world.
I was the wisest man on Earth, but it was meaningless.
The conclusion he reaches is to fear God and keep His commandments.
This is the whole duty of man.
Life is meaningless without God.
Ecc 1:14 NIV - I observed everything going on under the sun, and
really, it is all meaningless—like chasing the wind.
Ecc 1:14 (God's word Translation) - It's like trying to catch the wind.
But it's not meaningless at all with God.
Luk 6:46 - Jesus asked,
But why do you
call Me 'Lord, Lord,' and not do the things which I say?
Jhn 14:15 -
If you love Me,
keep My commandments.
1Jo 5:3 - For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments.
And His commandments are not burdensome.
It's not fear such that we are literally afraid, but rather it's
a reverence for God, and to be in awe of God.

)
Mat 17:1-8 - The transfiguration
Peter, James and John witnessed Moses and Elijah talking with Jesus.
A voice from a cloud said, This is my Son, whom I love; with
him I am well pleased. Listen to him!
Mat 17:7-8 NIV - 7But Jesus came and touched them.
Get up,
he said.
Don't be afraid.
8When they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus.
Mat 17:7-8 NLT - 7Then Jesus came over and touched them.
Get up,
he said.
Don't be afraid.
8And when they looked up, Moses and Elijah were gone,
and they saw only Jesus.
Luk 8:49-56 - Only Peter, James and John were allowed to go into
the house when Jesus was resurrecting a little girl.
Peter, James and John seeing the transfiguration with Moses and Elijah.
Peter suggested making 3 shelters for them.
Exo 31:18 - Moses receiving the law on Mount Sinai
2Ki 2:11 - Elijah taken up in a whirlwind
Jhn 14:6 - I am the way the truth an the
life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Moses represented the Law, but the law can't save us.
Elijah represented obedience to the prophets, but that won't save
you, either. Only through Jesus Christ can we be saved.
The Father was telling us to listen to Jesus.
Jhn 2:5 - Mary said at the wedding feast, Whatever He
says to you, do it.
There are lots of good books, but nothing ever replaces the Word
of God.
2 things that are very important, as the church goes through
troubling times:
- Stay in the Word.
- Keep your eyes on Jesus.
Stay in The Word
The Father said the listen to Jesus. We do that mainly by staying
in His Word.
Jesus only
is a wrong teaching, denying the Trinity.
It's theologically wrong.
This message is Only Jesus.
St. Augustine was trying to comprehend the Trinity. He was walking
along the beach, and saw a boy who kept filling a pale with water
on the beach and pouring it into a hole, saying that he was going
to pour the whole ocean into the the hole. Augustine couldn't fat
om this. The boy said that neither should he be trying the comprehend
the trinity. Then the boy literally disappeared.
We should accept the trinity even if we can't comprehend it.
We baptize in the name of The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit.
So this isn't Jesus-only (denying the Trinity), but rather it's only
Jesus that we want to look to for our theology. Only the Word of
God that we should read for our Spiritual nourishment.
Theology is a matter of Life and death. There's good theology and
there's bad theology.
Paul wrote to Timothy, a pastor, to watch his doctrine closely,
making sure that it lines up with the word of God.
1Ti 4:16 NIV - Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in
them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.
God speaks to us—not necessarily in an audible voice, but He
will speak to our hearts.
The Holy Spirit will never go against the Bible. God will not contradict
Himself. If someone tells you that God told them something that goes
against The Word, then that should put up red flags.
The Holy Spirit will guide you through the Bible, however.
Mat 24:35 NIV - Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will
never pass away.
The Bible tells us how to be saved, and how to build that
relationship and grow in grace.
Eph 4:14 - …that we should no longer be children, tossed to
and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the
trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful
plotting,…
Don't be children any longer - you need to grow.
1Pe 2:1-2 - 1Therefore, laying aside all malice, all
deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, 2as
newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow
thereby.
1Co 3:2 - I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until
now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still
not able;
There is always new doctrine and new teachings, so be careful and
stay in the Word.
Just as a baby starts with milk, goes to strained peas and apple
sauce, and finally to full adult food, we also need to receive
things that are more mature.
2Ti 3:1 KJV - Perilous times shall come.
1Ti 4:1 NASB - But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times
some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful
spirits and doctrines of demons,
This is why doctrine is a matter of life and death. there is
doctrine of demons, and of people, but we want only the doctrine
of God.
There is doctrine from demons, and doctrine from people.
2Co 11:3 NIV - But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the
serpent's cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your
sincere and pure devotion to Christ.
This is why The Word and prayer is so important.
Mat 5:6 - Hunger and thirst after righteousness and you shall be filled.
Keep your Eyes on Jesus
Don't put your faith in people. Pastors will try to teach the best
the can, but they are only people, just farther along in their
relationship with God. But God will never leave or forsake you.
You can always go right to the source.
Mat 28:20 - I am with you always, even
to the end of the age.
Before Kennedy was assasinated, false Oswalds were supposedly
planted, at least according to conspiracy theorists. Those were
supposedly people who looked like Oswald planted in the area to
throw off investigations. Likewise, false Christs will appear as
we get to the last days.
As we get closer to the end of the age, more false Christs
will be seen.
Mat 24:26-27 - 26Therefore if
they say to you, 'Look, He is in the desert!' do not go out; or
'Look, He is in the inner rooms!' do not believe it.
27For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes
to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
Mat 24:24 - For false christs and false
prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if
possible, even the elect.
Jhn 12:20-21 - Phillip and Andrew told Jesus that someone wanted
to see Him.
That should be our desire, not to see disciples, but to hear the
trumpet and to see Jesus Himself.
We are making celebrities out of Christian leaders. That's not good
- they are the same as everyone else, just farther along.
If we get too fixated on the speaker, we will miss God. God's Holy
Spirit will go right over you because you are looking at man.
The same Spirit that moved over the face of the deep in the first
days is living in us.
We don't look to a service for entertainment.
Keep your eyes on Jesus, because He is the author and finisher of
our faith.

160424 - Pastor Danny - Once Upon a Time
We live practical Christian living.
We are in Christ, but we're in the world.
Christian life is not about walking around with our heads in the
clouds—we have to deal with the world.
We have to go to the supermarket and take care of the house, but
make God a part of all of it, because He does care.
Don't worry about little things.
Childhood stories
During our childhoods, we remember the
Once Upon a Time
stories.
After a while, you'd get the format: set up, anticipation,
a low point, and a happy ending.
Something in the past, something in the present,
and something to come.
Col 1:21-23 - Grounded and steadfast in the Gospel
Once Upon a Time…
Once upon a time, we didn't know God, and were His enemies.
We didn't have a love relationship with God, nor did we have the
capacity to love God at the time.
1Jn 4:19 - We love God because He first Loved us.
Jhn 1:11 - He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.
Psa 14:3 - There is none who does good, No, not one.
We were God's enemies, although we didn't think of ourselves that way.
Even though we went to church as kids, we were still enemies of
God because we didn't have that relationship with him.
We were alienated—estranged from God.
We didn't think of ourselves that way, figuring that we weren't
so bad, but we were enemies of God.
Maybe our story has abusive people in it. Maybe we don't want to
share our past. May we hurt others.
And yes, we had some laughs and some good times before coming to
The Lord, and we could behave well in church, but that's a part
of our story.
We had no hope—nothing to look forward to.
Some people found good time in a bottle or pills or something they
smoked or shot up.
But the story changed one day.
You were once alienated our enemies. You were enemies in your minds
by wicked works. You are where your mind is.
We were where our minds were. We were born into sin, and so that's
where our minds were. We were looming to how we could please the
flesh, because that's where our minds were.
So we needed a new mind. Our minds were full of junk, despite being
in church. Church was by wrote—we do this just because we
always have done it, but that's no good.
Our acts were wicked. We think of only very hurtful things as being
wicked, but anything that goes against God is wicked—it's sin.
The Hero
Those once upon a time stories always had a hero, and so does ours.
Jesus was not an enemy of God, He was God's beloved Son.
He brought about reconciliation in His fleshly body, through His death.
He died on the cross. So did the 2 thieves. Jesus was beaten beyond
recognition. He was struck while blindfolded. He was scourged.
He had the crown of thorns pushed onto His head.
Jesus was tortured before being put on the cross,
and He did it for us.
It took all of that to break the force of sin, because sin is powerful.
That's what it took for us to be saved.
But there was no other way for us to be saved, and we went from
being enemies of God to being presented holy and blameless in God's sight.
The
once upon a time
stories we heard as kids were fairy
tales, but this one is not a fairy tale, although some people try
to make it into a fairy tale. They don't want to believe because
it presents to them a responsibility, and they run from that.
When they looked at Jesus, He looked like any other person.
But Spiritually, He was God's image. When you see Jesus, you
effectively see The Father.
Jhn 14:8-9 - 8Philip said to Him, Lord, show us the
Father, and it is sufficient for us.
9Jesus said to
him, Have I been with you so long, and
yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the
Father; so how can you say, 'Show us the Father'?
Everything about Jesus' essence was God.
People wanted to reduce Him to being an Earthly king,
but He is greater than that.
jhn 1:1-3 - 1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word
was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was in the
beginning with God. 3All things were made through Him,
and without Him nothing was made that was made.
If He wanted to beat an earthly army, He could just drum up a storm
and wipe them all out.
The Villain
The stories always had a villain, and so is Satan.
Eph 6:12 KJV - For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but
against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the
darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Our enemies should not be other people at the church, causing
division and lack of unity.
These kinds of divisions in the church happen, because it's in our
flesh. Your flesh isn't saved. The flesh is the flesh. We let fleshly
thoughts about each other creep back in rather than getting them
out of our minds.
Just because the devil puts a bad thought in your mind doesn't mean
that you have to act on it. Let it go.
The devil is the one who will stir up trouble and bad thoughts, but
we have to put bad thoughts out of our minds.
But Satan is a villain, and we have a hero now. Because of the hero,
we are no longer dependent on that villain.
Present day—today.
Stand firm in Christ. Don't back off, don't be afraid.
Some people are in church, but they don't want to get on the front
lines. They see the way the disciples suffered.
The disciples kept preaching despite all of the torture and
punishment, because of the Hero in the story.
If Jesus went through all this just to save us, won't He also be
with us during these times?
Steven saw Jesus right there before being stoned. They knew He was
right there and that's why they never backed down.
We are no longer those people in the beginning of the story who
were lost. Who were enemies with no hope.
The Happy Ending
There was always a good part of the story. The happy part.
1Th 4:16-18 - 16For the Lord Himself will descend from
heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the
trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17Then
we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with
them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall
always be with the Lord. 18Therefore comfort one another
with these words.
The meeting in the air.
And they lived happily ever after! Amen.

150501 - Sharon Ralph - The Kingdom in the World
Although we are living in the world, we are not of the world.
Rom 12:2 HNV - Don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed
by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good
and acceptable and perfect will of God.
1Pe 2:11 (AMPC) - Beloved, I implore you as aliens and strangers
and exiles [in this world] to abstain from the sensual urges (the
evil desires, the passions of the flesh, your lower nature) that
wage war against the soul.
Jhn 15:18-19 (AMPC) - If the world hates
you, know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you belonged to
the world, the world would treat you with affection and would love
you as its own. But because you are not of the world [no longer one
with it], but I have chosen (selected) you out of the world, the
world hates (detests) you.
We are not of the world, so the world will hate us. If we were of
the world, the world would love us.
Jhn 17:14-16 (AMPC) - 14I have
given and delivered to them Your word (message) and the world
has hated them, because they are not of the world [do not belong
to the world], just as I am not of the world.
15I do not ask that You will take them out of the world,
but that You will keep and protect them from the evil one.
16They are not of the world (worldly, belonging to the
world), [just] as I am not of the world.
Jesus was not of the world, and neither are we.
Satan is the ruler of this world.
Conforming to this world and its darkness is serving Satan.
Rom 8:5-10 (AMPC) - 5For those who are according to the
flesh and are controlled by its unholy desires set their minds on
and pursue those things which gratify the flesh, but those who are
according to the Spirit and are controlled by the desires of the
Spirit set their minds on and seek those things which gratify the
[Holy] Spirit.
6Now the mind of the flesh [which is sense and reason
without the Holy Spirit] is death [death that comprises all the
miseries arising from sin, both here and hereafter]. But the mind
of the [Holy] Spirit is life and [soul] peace [both now and forever].
7[That is] because the mind of the flesh [with its carnal
thoughts and purposes] is hostile to God, for it does not submit
itself to God's Law; indeed it cannot.
8So then those who are living the life of the flesh
[catering to the appetites and impulses of their carnal nature]
cannot please or satisfy God, or be acceptable to Him.
9But you are not living the life of the flesh, you are
living the life of the Spirit, if the [Holy] Spirit of God [really]
dwells within you [directs and controls you]. But if anyone does
not possess the [Holy] Spirit of Christ, he is none of His [he does
not belong to Christ, is not truly a child of God].
10But if Christ lives in you, [then although] your
[natural] body is dead by reason of sin and guilt, the spirit is
alive because of [the] righteousness [that He imputes to you].
Those living the life of the flesh, cannot please or satisfy God,
or be acceptable to Him.
We are living the life of the Spirit, if the Spirit lives within us.
Gal 5:16-26 (AMPC) - (Paul) -
19Now the doings (practices) of the flesh are clear
(obvious): they are immorality, impurity, indecency,
20Idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, anger
(ill temper), selfishness, divisions (dissensions), party spirit
(factions, sects with peculiar opinions, heresies),
21Envy, drunkenness, carousing, and the like. I warn you
beforehand, just as I did previously, that those who do such things
shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
22But the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit [the work which
His presence within accomplishes] is love, joy (gladness), peace,
patience (an even temper, forbearance), kindness, goodness
(benevolence), faithfulness,
23Gentleness (meekness, humility), self-control
(self-restraint, continence). Against such things there is no law
[that can bring a charge].
Walk and live in the Holy Spirit, then you will not satisfy the
cravings of the flesh.
Fruit of the Holy Spirit: Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness..
If we live by the spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.
We cannot serve 2 masters. You will serve God or Satan.
Mat 6:24 (AMPC) - No one can serve two
masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or
he will stand by and be devoted to the one and despise and be
against the other. You cannot serve God and mammon (deceitful
riches, money, possessions, or whatever is trusted in).
God allows us the free will to choose whom we will serve.
Share the truth about good and evil so people will know that their
works are evil.
People understand that lying, murder and theft are sinful. These
are obvious, but gossiping, discouraging others, holding back from
doing good when there is opportunity to do so are not so obvious
sins. The way we think, speak and act are all ways in which we can
decide to be Godly, or worldly. These are choices that we make every
day, and they are choices between living in the Kingdom or living
in the world.
If we do wrong things, it hurts the Holy Spirit.
If you don't know God, you don't know you are hurting Him.
Jhn 16:7-11 (AMPC) - However, I am telling
you nothing but the truth when I say it is profitable (good,
expedient, advantageous) for you that I go away. Because if I do
not go away, the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor,
Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you [into close fellowship
with you]; but if I go away, I will send Him to you [to be in close
fellowship with you].
All Christians have the duty to share the truth to non-believers.
We should be showing people God by the example of our lives.
We can give testimony about our lives without making non-believers
uncomfortable.
If they never hear it, they will never know it.
The Kingdom in the world is people on Earth, acting Godly, loving
and caring about others.
Mat 6:33 (AMPC) - But seek first the
kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall
be added to you.
We need to be more Kingdom-oriented, and less worldly.
Helping or benefitting others is a way we can minister to others.
Letting others go ahead of you in line, taking the time to
help others.
Sometimes people just need for us to listen, and then to encourage
them and lift them up with the love of Christ.
You may be the only Jesus they ever see.
The more we strive to live in the Kingdom, the more the devil will
tempt us to live in the world.
Gossip is a big worldly evil. Be aware of the hurt it causes.
Think about what you're saying before saying what you're thinking.
Think about how you would feel if someone talked about you like that.
When you truly step back in the spirit, and try to understand
others' motivation, situation, or reasons for being the way they
are, you start to see things through God's eyes.
When you really look, you will realize that you have done a lot of
the same things for which you have criticized others.
Don't say things that are not uplifting. Don't say things that are
negative, condescending, or gossipy about anyone. We are children
of God, and we should speak like children of God.
Jhn 3:31 (AMPC) - He Who comes from above (heaven) is [far] above
all [others]; he who comes from the earth belongs to the earth,
and talks the language of earth…
When we speak lies, discouragement, negativity and gossip we are
speaking the language of the world.
When we speak in the Kingdom, we speak of God's righteousness:
Psa 35:28 (AMPC) - And my tongue shall talk of Your righteousness,
rightness, and justice, and of [my reasons for] Your praise
all the day long.
We speak of God's Word:
Psa 119:172 (AMPC) - My tongue shall sing [praise for the fulfillment]
of Your word, for all Your commandments are righteous.
We speak the truth:
Eph 4:25 (AMPC) - Therefore, rejecting all falsity and
being done now with it, let everyone express the truth with his
neighbor, for we are all parts of one body and members
one of another.
Speaking in the Kingdom is speaking things that are positive
and uplifting.
Speaking positively or negatively is the choice between life
and death.
Our choice of words makes the difference between discouragement and
encouragement, lies and truth, lifting up and tearing down, helping
and hurting, cursing and blessing, sin and obedience, living in the
flesh and living in the Spirit.
Words effect our emotions, confidence, perceptions, self-image,
thoughts, actions and lives.
When a sitation arises,
- Ask yourself,
What would Jesus do?
- What does God's Word say?
- What were previous outcomes of similar choices?
- How will this effect others? Negatively or positively?
- Would God be pleased or unhappy with my choice?
- Am I at peace with this choice? Does it feel right?
God gives us the free will every day to choose where we want to live.
Our thoughts, words and actions show where we are choosing to live:
in the Kingdom, or in the world.
Where do you choose to live?

Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious
people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.
(John Adams - 1798)
God, who gave us life, gave us liberty.† Can the
liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction
that these liberties are a gift from God? Indeed, I tremble for my
country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot
sleep forever.
‡ (Thomas Jefferson - 1774, 1785)
While we are zealously performing the duties of good
citizens and soldiers, we certainly ought not to be inattentive to
the higher duties of religion. To the distinguished character of
patriot, it should be our highest glory to add the more distinguished
character of Christian.
(George Washington - May 2, 1778)
We have to fight for the right to freely express our faith.
We all are doing to works of the ministry if we are praying for others.
We have a choice: we can choose to be quiet and let the government
do whatever they think is right, or we can stand up.
Ask the Holy Spirit to do it.
The founding fathers sacrificed to give us freedom, including
freedom of faith. We should fight to preserve those rights.
We have a party on Memorial Day weekend, but don't forget what
it's about - the people who sacrificed so we could maintain
our freedom.
The military, police and firefighters are ordinary people who are
doing extraordinary things.
We have to live for Christ, or Christ died for nothing.
Memorial day is to remember the fallen heros, but we should
remember Christ every day.
There is no greater privilege than to proclaim the gospel.
One's God dictates the kind of law one implements and
also controls the application of that law over time. Given enough
time, all non-Christian systems of law self-destruct in a fit of
tyranny.
(George Washington - Farewell address, 1796)
†
A Summary View of the Rights of British America, 1774
[Jefferson was saying that since both life and liberty were rights
given by God, that they could not be separated. If you had life, you
had a God-given right to liberty as well.]
‡
Notes on the State of Virginia, 1785
[Related to the concepts that all people are
endowed by their
Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are
Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness...
These rights,
since they are endowed in us by God, are unalienable, meaning
that the government cannot revoke them. If we don't accept that
these rights come from God, that would mean that the government
can revoke those rights, hence,
Can the liberties of a nation
be secure when we have removed a conviction
that these liberties are a gift from God?

160605 - Pastor Larry - The Heart is Desperately Wicked
Jer 17:9-10 NIV - The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure.
Who can understand it?
I the LORD search the heart and examine the mind,
to reward each person according to their conduct, according to what
their deeds deserve.
The Lord searches our heart.
The heart was once considered the center of intellect, conscience
and will. the seat of thought and affection. Your innermost being.
Exo 9:12 - Your heart can be hardened, like Pharaoh, who wouldn't
listen to Moses and let people go.
Heb 3:15 - Today, if you hear God's voice, don't harden your heart.
Obey with what God's plan is for you.
Hearts can become callous if we reject or ignore the Holy Spirit.
If you harden your heart, it will become callous so that you are
not sensitive to God's voice.
Jon 1:3 - Jonah, preaching to the people. He went the other
direction and ran off to more than 100 miles away to where God
told him to be.
Jhn 14:1 -
Let not your heart be
troubled.
Remember that The Lord has everything under control.
Did it ever occur to you that nothing ever occurs to God? He knows
everything from beginning to end.
Heb 11:5 - God kept Enoch for 300 years, so don't be afraid that
you'll fall away.
In the psalms, there were times when the psalmist was sorrowful
or angry with God.
Hearts can be broken, but they can and should be open to God.
Luk 12:34 - Where your treasure is, your heart will be also.
Gen 3:13 - Eve was tempted by the serpent and
1jn 2:16 - Lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh and the pride of life.
Gen 3:15 - God promised a redeemer.
Cain having a wicked heart because of sin.
Jealousy lead to hatred, which led to murder because his heart
was wicked.
He wouldn't take God's council.
Sin is like a demon waiting to attack you
Jas 1:14 - People are dragged away by their own evil desire.
You can't always blame the devil.
After desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin and leads
to death.
We really need to be ready for the Lord, because He could come back
at any time, like a thief in the night.
Gen 6:5 - After the flood, God said that every inclination of the
human heart is evil from childhood.
We need to have God in us.
It's a rebellious nature, a sin nature, that is in us.
We have to have the new nature
2Co 5:17 - We are new creations, the old man has passed away.
We have a sinful society.
Rom 1:30 - Man is an inventor of evil things.
Sin is rebellion against God.
In the book,
Bible History: Old Testament by Alfred Edersheim,
he says,
This means more than the total corruption of our nature,
it refers to the universal prevalence of open, daring sin and
rebellion against God.
Sinners rebel against God and His Word.
Gen 6:6 - The Lord regretted that He had made human beings on the
Earth, and His Heart was deeply troubled.
God's heart was broken.
Gen 11 - The tower of Babel. Astrology rebelling against God.
The flood killed a lot of sinners, but human nature remained.
Noah got drunk. Sin was still in the world.
People figure they are going to Heaven because of Good works,
but that's not going to save you
Rom 3:23 - For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.
None is good, no, not one.
Mat 15:18 -
The things that come out
of the mouth come from the heart.
Luk 6:45 -
For out of the abundance of
the heart his mouth speaks.
Jas 3:8 - Nobody can tame the tongue
Pro 4:23 NIV - Above all else, guard your heart, for everything
you do flows from it.
Rom 5:12-21 - Paul talks about Christ being the second Adam.
(
last Adam?)
Adam brought… | Jesus brought… |
Sorrow | Joy |
Condemnation | Salvation |
Confusion | Peace |
Death | Eternal Life |
Rom 7:15 NIV - Paul: I do not understand what I do. For what I
want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.
Rom 7:24-25 - O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from
this body of death? I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!
So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the
flesh the law of sin.
Jesus came to cleanse us and prepare us for eternity.
Psa 139:23-24 - Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and
know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.
We have no right to tell God to change someone else. Change me.

160612 - Pastor Larry - Use What You Have
Judges - People worshipped false gods, but The Lord God raised up judges.
People wanted a king, and The Lord said to give them a king.
God anointed men and women to be judges, but people rebelled
against the judges.
God will always raise up people who won't turn away.
Jdg 3:31 NIV - Shamgar - After Ehud came Shamgar son of Anath,
who struck down six hundred Philistines with an oxgoad.
He too saved Israel.
They were always fighting the Philistines.
1Sa 17 - When David fought Goliath, Goliath was a Philistine.
Gen 5:22 - Enoch stayed close to God for 300 years and then
God raptured him.
We don't know a lot about Shamgar, but we learn from him that we
need to be faithful and obedient.
An ox-goad was a sharp object used to prod an ox. Shamgar used
that to kill 600 Philistines (probably over a ling time).
Rom 8:31 - This was so against the odds, but with God for us,
who can be against us?
Shamgar used what he had.
Exo 14:21-31 - Moses at the Red sea.
We use what we have for the glory of God. Even if you don't have
the gifts of another brother or sister, that doesn't matter - use
whatever gift God has given you and be obedient to Him. He won't
use you exactly the same way as He would use anyone else.
Sometimes we bury the gifts that God has given us, like kids who
toss aside the gift and instead play in the box it came in.
Heb 11 - The great chapter of faith. Many great people of faith
were named in this chapter, but Shamgar was not, despite the great
way that God used him and his faith.
Heb 6:10 - God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the
love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue
to help them.
It doesn't have to be big things—just use whatever gifts
God has given you.
We may not all get huge blessings in Heaven for great deeds done
during our lives, but the important thing is that you obeyed God
and used the gifts He gave you. God blesses that.
Heb 11:7 - Noah - When he started building the arc, his sons
weren't even born yet.
Noah is in the Bible because of his obedience.
Jdg 15 - Samson used his gifts to defeat the Philistines.
He broke his bonds and had nothing but the jawbone of a donkey.
He ended up killing 1,000 Philistines with the jawbone of a donkey.
It went against all odds, but with God for us…
Gen 21:2 - Abraham and Sarah having their child.
One of Samson's weaknesses was women. It was when he was with a
prostitute when he lost the battle.
God uses sinners. He used Samson despite his sin. But it was sin
that was his weakness and his downfall.
Rom 3:23 - [F]or all have sinned and fall short of
the glory of God.
2Cr 12:10 - Paul gloried in his weakness.
When I'm weak, then I'm strong.
Don't disqualify yourself or allow the enemy to disqualify you
just because you have sin in your life. God can still use you, and
He wants to use you.
The greatest tragedy is when someone falls and they stay down
without getting back up. Giving up is worse than the fall.
God knew that we were going to fall.
God uses those who are weak, but if you fall, you need to get back up.
Samson used a jawbone - use what you have.
1Sa 16 - King David - started as just a shepherd boy.
Goliath was probably around 7 feet tall and was very intimidating.
David had a slingshot like a mischievous kid. Goliath was incensed.
The odds of David beating Goliath was so against the odds,
but God was with him.
David used what he had—just a slingshot in his case.
Every member of the body is important, like the parts of a human
body. Each part is important to the whole. God gave us all gifts
to use for the benefit of the Kingdom and the benefit of the body,
so use what you have.

160703 - Pastor Betty - Independence Day - Why we need to pray for our nation
Does everyone know what we're celebrating on the 4th of July?
A lot of people fought for our freedoms.
God gave us rights that no one can take away (unalienable rights).
These are not rights given by people but by God.
No one can tell us we can not pray in public places.
Psa 33:12 - Blessed is the nation whose God is The Lord.
People came to this land for religious freedoms. The nation was
founded on Judeo-Christian principles.
2Ch 7:14 - if My people who are called by My name will humble
themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked
ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and
heal their land.
Earlier generations lived by this.
Don't follow false gods.
Soloman didn't ask for fame or glory or wealth, instead, asked for
wisdom. He got it, and everything else followed as a result.
Soloman married pagan women to gain alliances with their families,
but got drawn astray by their religions.
Your god can be money, fame, games, TV, really
anything that takes you away from God.
Our forefathers prayed before making any big decisions.
Pray that God will deliver us from the ways of the world.
Our land needs healing and deliverance. So much sin covering sin
and lies covering lies.
The land was given to us by God, and is truly blessed by God.
We have everything we need, and we can and should be self-sufficient.
We should be lenders and not borrowers.
God chose His elect to run this country.
If we walk away from God's blessings, then what remains has
to be curses.
We should remember our blessings and not take them for granted.
We have all kinds of food from all over the world, we have
fantastically good medicine here.
And yet we still are not appreciative of God and His blessings.
1Ti 2:1-4 NIV - I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers,
intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—
Our founding fathers knew the importance of prayer.
Benjamin Franklin said we should always start with prayer.*
God will give us all the wisdom we ask for.
We have to pray that those in leadership have God's leadership.
We pray that God enlightens and enables us to do His will.
1Th 5:6-18 - So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep,
but let us be awake and sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night,
and those who get drunk, get drunk at night.
Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive
to do what is good for each other and for everyone else. Rejoice
always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for
this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
Eph 6:18 - Praying always with prayer and supplication in the spirit
and watching there unto with all perseverance and supplications
for all saints.
Col 4:2-3 - Be thankful that God will open a door for our message.
Pray for people even if you don't like them.
The Holy Spirit gives you the power to pray and gives you the
things about which to pray.
Deu 4:7 - What other nation is so great as to have their gods near
them the way the LORD our God is near us whenever we pray to him?
The holy Spirit in us gives us the things to pray for.
Ask God to reveal to you the prayers that He wants you to pray.
*...In the beginning of the Contest with G. Britain, when we
were sensible of danger we had daily prayer in this room for the
divine protection.—Our prayers, Sir, were heard, & they were
graciously answered. All of us who were engaged in the struggle
must have observed frequent instances of a superintending providence
in our favor. To that kind providence we owe this happy opportunity
of consulting in peace on the means of establishing our future
national felicity. And have we now forgotten that powerful friend?
or do we imagine that we no longer need his assistance?
"I have lived, Sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the
more convincing proofs I see of this truth that God Governs in the
affairs of men.
"...I therefore beg leave to move—that henceforth prayers
imploring the assistance of Heaven, and its blessings on our
deliberations, be held in this Assembly every morning before we
proceed to business, and that one or more of the Clergy of this
City be requested to officiate in that Service.

Description of the visual demonstration Pastor Danny used with props:
Pastor Danny held his Bible in his left hand, and his coffee cup in his right hand.
Let's say this is our everyday life,
he said, drawing attention to his coffee mug.
This represents God,
he said, drawing attention to his Bible.
He takes our everyday life, and He brings it to the presence and the place of the Holy Spirit. And this is how He showed it to me: the two must come together.
He brings the coffee mug and the Bible together so they are touching each other side-by-side.
There are people who are saved, but they're still out here,
moving the cup away from the Bible.
What God...is doing...by the power of the Holy Spirit... He said, 'I want you in here with Me,'
bringing the mug and the Bible together again.
And after a while, they come together so closely, that after a while, you can't separate them.
Pastor Danny places the coffee cup on top of the open Bible.

210314 - Sharon Ralph- God Level
- There's more than just trying to live by Biblical principles.
- The degree by which you're living by the world ("Devil Level") or in the
will of God ("God Level") will effect your overall temperament and
happiness. The range between God Level and Devil Level can be illustrated
as like a thermometer. God Level is a comfortable temperature, like
perfect weather. It represents peace, calmness and serenity. Devil level
is like an oppressively hot day. It represents extreme
discomfort—anxiety, doubt, fear, negativity, and, at times,
hopelessness.
- At devil level, circumstances and situations are chaotic and cause
confusion. It's difficult to focus or be productive. We tend to panic
and don't take the time to include God into the situation that caused
us to be at that elevated level of stress.
- Many things could put
us at that level, such as receiving bad news or suffering a personal
loss.
- We can also be stressed by taking on more than we are capable of doing.
- We could be stressed because of relationship issues or health issues.
- Being fully at devil level means that we are out of God's perfect will.
- Being fully at God level puts us in God's perfect will.
- At God level, we are not confused or anxious, and we are able to be
confident and focused. We are organized, able to prioritize and be
productive.
- We are busy at God level, but because we don't take on things that are
not in God's will for us to take, we will not take on more than we can
handle.
- We take on tasks that God has equipped us to handle. God provides the
ability, the resources, and the guidance so we are at peace with our
decisions, thoughts, emotions, and actions.
- We are generally somewhere between these two extremes (the 'me' level).
This is an unstable situation that varies depending on where in that
range we happen to be at any given time.
- If we become confident
in our own abilities and ask God to bless our plans rather than seeking
God's will, this serves as a bridge to go from God level to devil level,
leaving God's will and ending up stressed in the world.
- If we are out of God's will but in tune with The Holy Spirit, then we
would feel uncomfortable about it, and God would try to put obstacles in
our way to keep us from doing the wrong things.
- When we are out of God's will, there is uncertainty, and the devil will
try to confuse us and get us going in the wrong direction, like a sheep
that has strayed too far from the flock and is now open to the attacks
of wolves. This is why it's so important to know God, know His Word, and
be able to discern His voice, His leading and be able to discern God's
leading from the lies of the enemy.
- If you want to hear God, you have to stop talking and listen.
- If you are stressed over a situation, bring it to God.
- If you can be disciplined enough to do something you don't want to do
and are uncomfortable with, then if you look to God, you can be
disciplined in other areas of your life, such as working out, eating
better, getting organized, etc. If you have discipline, then let God use
that trait in you. Let Him guide you.
- Rather than looking to please yourself or other people, look to please,
obey and be accountable to God. Everything else will come together after
that.
- Gal 1:10 - If we look to be popular with people, we aren't bondservants to Christ.
- 1Th 2:4 - ...we speak, not to please man, but to please God, who tests our hearts.
- Pro 29:25 - Put your trust in The Lord.
- Jhn 12:43 - Don't love approval of people more than approval of God.
- Col 3:23 - Work at your task, as to The Lord.
- Act 5:29 - We must obey God rather than people.
- To achieve this and live at God level, we must totally submit to Him and
to His will, and listen for whatever He wants you to do for the day.
Clear you mind, clear your emotions, and be willing to receive God's
plans.
- Mat 6:34 - Do not worry about tomorrow.
- “Lord, what will You have me do right now?” The let go of
everything and really listen. When you truly give everything up
and go into God's perfect will, you know it.
- In Sharon's case, lack of discipline were causing chaos in her life.
- Submitting to God and His direction brought order to the chaos.
- What to take on and what to not take on
- What to focus on
- When to be disciplined and when to be flexible
- How to be disciplined
- How to relax
- Once you submit, don't take it back—leave God in control.
- Deu 28 - Blessings promised that are fulfilled when we turn things over
to God.
- Stop trying to do what only God can do; accept that there are many
things out of our control that we can't do or fix.
- Zec 4:6 - "Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit" says The Lord.
- Mat 6:33 - Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and
all these things will be added unto you.
